Joe for Collins

Using the TE means that this doesn't increase our tax bill and we're getting a really talented big guy who not only fits our needs but is also a buy low candidate after being marginalized on the Hawks

And frankly hes too small to really play the 4.

I would rather go for John Collins. The asking price will be lower and hes basically the same caliber of player.

If Siakim is on the table I would give a lot. But not Claxton.

I'm still praying that we can get either Lavine or Beal.

I think either of those guys puts us right at the top of the East again.

Washington especially should just trade Beal. Hes on a terrible contract and they need to just tank. Take a bunch of picks and Simmons. It makes sense.

Absolute no to Lavine or Beal. Those guys barely do anything better than Cam but up for $50m and $40m respectively for the next 4-5 seasons.

If the price to get either was Ben alone I'd probably do it, anything more than that no Thanks.

Why are we pining for a starting 4?

KD is the starting 4.

I think the plan is to try and land one of the following, first and foremost:

Siakam
Lillard
Anthony Davis
Beal
Jamal Murray(for Simmons/Cam/Picks)
KAT(this summer when he’s eligible for trade again)

Cam has done something special lately and he has a lot of potential, but comparing him currently to Beal, or even Lavine or CJ is unfair and ridiculous. Once there’s more tape and game planning on him, even with KD taking pressure off him, he’ll become inefficient and more turnover/shoot us out of the game/bad decision prone, for the present. And Beal can be overrated and Lavine has quirks, but it’s doing these guys a disservice to try and paint them as a dime a dozen guys. And again, there’s the KD factor.

If you’re not trading KD, and Cam is a main want of a team for any of the above players and maybe even Lavine, and said trade keeps KD happy, you do it.

Nets could be in a bit of an advantageous position here. I think most teams don’t want to blow all their picks when they could be in a position to potentially get durant later on instead.

Which puts us in a position to potentially get a siakim or og without the bidding war hoping that it convinces durant to stay.

I've heard this in other places, but I don't understand the logic.

The teams that want KD the most presumably would also be good playoff teams who believe acquiring KD would make them contenders. So those teams would essentially forego trying to win a title with him this year and wait while he puts on more mileage and could potentially (god forbid) get injured with us.

I don't understand the logic. KD isn't getting younger. If a team is interested in trying to win a championship with him, wouldn't it make sense to try and get him now rather than waste a year of contention without him?

I agree, Marks should at least do his due diligence and test the market as we know KD tends to be quite moody and indecisive with what he wants.

If OG is 3 picks and Gobert is 5 picks then KD is 7 picks despite his age, he's just so many classes above as a player. Marks should at least ask around, all they can do is say no...

if you can get an all star caliber second scorer by trading Cam, i think you do it. Not sure you can though because of three games.

maybe DeRozan but you don't trade Cam for DeRozan at this point.

Marks needs to move mountains.
The hate for diva players will die down and the losing will turn the focus to remaining focus to what’s left(the front office, which has always been the main problem. They all played well. Played amazing together. What was around them always been in question). If he wants to keep his job and even more so be a GM again in his life he will have to actually do contender level GM work.
Lose Durant if you want but he’ll never be seen again.

My targets:
Bojan Bogdanovic from Detroit
DeMar DeRozan from Chicago
a big man FROM ANYWHERE, we need **** size ASAP.
Kristaps Porzingas from WSH
Zach Collins from SA

now doesn't mean the aforementioned are looking to be moved. just me thinking the more non crazy star additions possible.
The ModFather

My sports teams are currently experiencing suckiness. Please pardon the mess.

I don't really care about KD anymore. Hes here for half a season max.

Cam could end up being a homegown star. Give him up for what?

Some unlikely title run as the 5th seed?

Its not worth it. What if Cam ends up being the next Harden and KD demands out in June? How stupid do we look?

My main target is still John Collins. He gives us rebounding and defense when the Hawks need shooting.

The Philly pick, Harris could possibly get it done.

Dinwiddie/O'Neal/DFS/KD/Collins/Claxton

Call it in.

i think plan a/b/c is siakam. all 3 picks, cam, and ben are on the table. it's a reasonable offer along the lines of the dejounte murray return but not an insane gobert return (mostly because all the picks are so far out). the fact that the nets didn't move more aggressively on fvv/dinwiddie makes me think they wanted to keep all their ammo for siakam because they think he's a realistic target.

plan d is probably packaging 1 of those picks with patty or joe for 1 of the centers on the market they like. collins, poetl, olynyk, plumlee are 4 options that make various degrees of sense. would think any of those teams would be happy to get a future first for those guys even if it's far off.

Siakam is off the market. No more Simmons + fillers for Siakam talk.

Nets may be posturing towards an inevitable divorce.

Say KD is not available to get the highest possible offer. KD has also earned the right to go where he wants to go.

I'm ok with sending him to the Suns if we get a huge offer like Ayton/Cam/Bridges and 3 picks.

We are just not in the title chase as constructed.

Looking clear now. He doesn't want to be here anymore.

So many teams want him. Get a big offer now instead of waiting till the off season.

The writing is officially on the wall. I'm strongly leaning towards KD is getting traded by the deadline. Thankfully we may recoup enough value so the cupboard isn't as bare as it was after Billy King.

Nobody in the front office should have a job this summer after the past 18 months or so. It's just too bad you can't fire the owner as well.

My friend, Marks was going to be a goner as well, so he played a role in this garbage as well. He knew Peterson was replacing him, hence he along with Cryrie sabotaged everything. Go rewatch media day when it was Marks turn at the podium, he didn't sound to thrilled or happy.

Marks wasn't making moves to help the team; instead as Bob, the old fart, reported from ND Marks wanted to increase Kyrie's value and move him. This in essence means REBUILDING. I would honestly revisit the Celtics as a trade partner. Regardless of how Brown feels, he is young and hungry and motivated.
