I mean, Maxey is hovering around a 20 AST% and he's really not a great passer. Even if they are getting assists, the quality of passes are not really great. Cam has been throwing trash passes all night so far save one or two.

Come on, you gotta add context to the stats; that's why statistical analysis gets a bad wrap. Who is he generally playing against when he got in the game prior to this recent increase in minutes? Bench players or even deep bench players in blowout games. How is that any kind of evaluation of a player's defense?
I dont think he’s that bad on defense.
If you watch the Clips game, they weren’t hunting him on defense and he was playable unlike Maxey.
And I haven’t seen a team defending him that tight since Steph Curry in 2016. Kawhi was not only defending him, but they were defending him FULL COURT, and trying to double team him in halfcourt.
I dont put a lot of value on a guard’s defense. Most of the top guards in the league are negative defenders like Steph, Trae, Fox, Harden, Morant (-3 DRaptor), Kyrie Doncic and Lillard.
And in general, i dont really value defense that much except for the C position and some at the 3&4 positions.
Thats how I see basketball is played right now. And thats where I see why people struggle to evaluate players because they can’t adjust to how the game is played now.
Watching the game right now. I'll let you know how his defense is against his mentor, Devin Booker.
He was gassed in the second half.
This scoring streak reminds me of that time Harden was traded to the Rox and surprised everyone that he was THAT good the entire time.
Defensively he’s not a turnstile. I’d say he’s average and potential becoming a switchable defender (like Eric Gordon or Harden) later

Teams are now zoning him up, he’s passing it more and you can see how easy he can jack up his assists if he wants to.
NBA is cut throat, you pass too much and you’ll never get the chance to score this much anymore. Next time you know you are past your prime and see Lou Williams when you look at the mirror.

Watching Cam is hilarious because he has no interest in passing. It’s really some classic 2000s ballhogging. Props to the kid tho he’s putting up numbers.

The Antoine Walker of 6'3 shooting guards.
22.4 ast% last 3 games
Kyrie averaged 22.5% for the season
Defended by Avdija, Kawhi, Cam Johnson and Mikal in the last 3 games. Full court, deny, trap and all kinds of defense thrown at him.
Im not saying he will average 40 all the way. But let’s give credit where it is due

Well Antoine Walker, notable assist generator, was a career 18 AST%.
It's so funny that you're using these three games where his usage is 40+% as an indicator of his passing ability. Yes, he's going to generate assists because he literally can't shoot the ball every time on offense and no one else is really a threat to generate offense themselves.

And i dont really have to prove anything. The stats speaks for it self. 3.7 apg on 22.4 ast%
Just go to GB and all around social media, everyone is appreciating his talent
There’s no way but up for the kid.

I haven't detracted from his scoring ability. In fact, I've been quite generous in giving him his flowers as a scorer.
I will not, however, conceded that he has arrived in other facets of his game just because he's scored 40+ points in three games (which they have a 1-2 record, for what it's worth).
Above all, I will not take the consensus of the General Board under consideration in any circumstances. Their opinion means less to me than the worst posters on the Sixers board. They likely sided with Ben Simmons the last three years as a guy who is being misunderstood and misused while citing things like "he generates the most assists off threes!" like that's some kind of endorsement of his passing ability.

I cant deny those though. Yeah i get most your point. I think he’s bound to have a bad game very soon. And I think it’s gonna be against us and Thybulle, and that will make all the cam thomas posts here make sense lol

This so much
Having that number on a 42% USG rate as a guard is not something to gloat about. If you see the guards with high USG like Trae or Luka all of them hover over 40%-50 ast%
Even Kyrie who is the worst passer with high usage among guards, has an identical ast% than Thomas on a 29 usg%

He's 12 months younger than Tyrese
I really like Maxey as a player but guess who is the only player with similar stats at the same age?
Iverson
And btw, I would trade him tomorrow for value as we don't own our picks

I'm going to miss Thybulle, I hope he resigns with us at some point after Doc is gone

Re: The curious case of Thybulle
Thybulle sealed his fate with the team, when he didn't get the shot and allowed himself to be unavailable in the Toronto playoff series.
