They can have Barton back for Hyland. That’s my proposal. Gives them a scorer off the bench for their playoff push, and someone they can incorporate quickly, because he played there for wo long.

Hyland’s value is low, simply because they want him out and now he wants out, too.

I think the most realistic thing to root for is to sell off Wright/Morris/Kuzma for future assets, and for Beal to shut it down for the year so we can finish atleast in the 5-8 draft slot and have a shot at Brandon Miller.

Morris to the Clippers for Jason Preston+Nic Batum

Kuzma to the Knicks for Quickley&1st round pick

Wright+Todd for Hyland/Braun/Green

Re-sign Porzingis in the off-season and target the next 2-3 years for trying to compete, punt on this season.

Can we talk about Miami's long history of really bad over paid role players. I know we have had our bertans and mahinmis and we over pay out stars but man they over the last few years since LeBron they have some terrible contracts paid out.

Good point. Miami's front office is a bit overrated. They have perhaps the best coach in the league, and a culture that helps them develop talent and keep hotheads like Butler under control, but their decisions on free agency and contract extensions are iffy at best. Duncan Robinson's contract is awful. The Lowry acquisition was doomed to be bad the moment it was made. And now I'm questioning the Herro extension.

The Bam Adebayo draft (and development) was a massive win. But they have basically lived off of that, Jimmy Butler and Erik Spoelstra ever since. None of their other moves have been particularly impressive and their salary cap situation is awful.

They just keep finding rotation guys undrafted too.

Yeah.. I sense the ole Tommy special of re-arranging deck chairs while getting marginal asset.
Something like Morris to LAC for Covington and 2nd(s) would be a good example.
I would love to expand it and make it Morris + Barton for Covington, Kennard, Protected 2028 1st.
We take on salary for next year and LAC gets an efficient PG that doesn't turn it over.

Then send Kuz + Kispert (Redundant with Kennard) to a contender looking for their final glue rotational pieces. I think that gets us 2 first and filler.

Under the tax, future picks, a few vets that could be flipped to contender next deadline, etc.
Not my choice, but would align with our mealy-mouthed vision they spew at us.

Batum retires next year. Green is irrelevant. So... given Jason Preston, Quickley, Hyland & Braun... what are we competing for?

Not sure how you disagree. Everytime we have traded a player (Dwight, Russ, Brown/Wagner, Dinwiddie, KCP) we didnt make an "All-In" move by taking on salary and/or attaching assets/picks to them to go for an All Star. Neither did we take on bad salary and go for the most picks...
Tommy has tried to play both sides by getting solid vet role players (Kuz, KP, KCP, Trez, Holiday, etc) while maintaining flexibility and/or getting marginal future picks.

Why would we want Covington who is 32?
Why would they add Kennard & a R1 pick so they can pay Barton the rest of this season???

1) "We" may not want Covington, but Tommy and co may find him as a solid rotational vet... I mean, why would we want Holiday or Barton? We dont...Tommy and Co did.

2) This trade saves LAC18M next year in salary, and almost $150M on their tax bill!!!
LAC is now in its 3rd straight year of being in the tax and are now looking at a tax bill of ~150M. They are ALREADY in the tax for next years too. They need to save money AND improve.

I'm all for the trade -- & I hope you're right that Nunn & Barton are gone -- even if it's only to get Jackson et. al. on the floor.

I've wanted Kuzma to be moved since it was announced that we'd acquired him. For that matter, there's no player on the team I wouldn't trade for young assets.

I fully disagree with this assessment. What it would mean is that we would have a Poeltl/KP starting FC. And Poeltl would play his 24 odd minutes with Gafford playing the other 24 minutes.

Trading Nunn & Davis would do the trick and free up some of the log-jam at guard.

I also disagree that there is any chance that this moves forward as the Wizards are not going to give up the assets that San Antonio would want. And Tommy can't trade Davis and admit defeat at this point.

Portland is determined to put a quality lineup next to Dame.They only have 2 assets ,Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe. Simons is not off the table because Lilliard /Simons is another version of Dame and CJ and they know the limitations of that again.
Kuzma's value is high because of the player he made himself with his time on the Wiz.
