PG: Randle clutch again

I don’t know much more I can take of Obi’s non-rebounding, no defense playing, fake hustle leak outs.

From what I can see, when IQ was going through a rough stretch he was still playing defense and attacking the glass. When Deuce is bricking he’s still making life extremely difficult for the opposition to get into their sets.

When Obi isn’t going 2-4 or 3-5 from 3PT he’s not only invisible on the court he’s detrimental to the success of the 2nd unit.

He seems like one of the nicest kids in the world but he’s charmin soft and I rarely if ever see genuine fight/grit from him.

The way he coasts through games at times is eerily reminiscent to Knox - our former eastern conference rookie of the month.

I don’t get why people stan for him. He’s one of the worst backups in the league

I get why. We drafted him high. He’s from NY. He cried when we drafted him and he seems very nice. He is also one of the best dunkers ever and won the dunk contest. So, I get it. Unfortunately he is very soft and not a good basketball player.

This is to counterbalance Randle's UN clutchness in those late situations. Randle should NEVER be given the ball early in the clock to Iso. It should be Brunson creating either his own shot or setting someone else up as that player cuts to the basket or is wide open. Randle needs to be a clear 2B in this situation and Thibs needs to enforce that.

Brunson for 2 straight possessions late after multiple Randle bloopers refused to pass out to Randle . It resulted in a Brunson drive and score and then a Brunson drive and dish to Sims for a dunk.

Should ALWAYS be through Brunson. Randle can't be trusted in those situations iso'ing EVER. Brunson makes things happen and I guarantee Brunson would have gotten us a quality shot in that Lakers game. That play should NEVER happen again. Brunson should always have the ball in his hands in the final play. Doesn't mean he has to take the last shot but he will at least make a good decision and kick it out to someone or draw a foul or break down the defense etc.

They took the ball out of brunsons hands because for like 2-3 games he couldn’t close the deal .
They started looking elsewhere.

It’s kinda gone full circle . Should Brunson never get another chance ? Of course not but I understand why the team was fishing around looking for other closers.

If the Knicks didn't blow so many big leads in games, many before 'clutch time' even comes, they wouldn't have had to stress the clutch time as much but it's nice to see they have improved from previous seasons and even improved as the season has progressed.

I mentioned the issue of Grimes falling alot on drives weeks ago, glad it isn't just me who thinks this but he also doesn't seem to create many FTs from it, either.

Just want to chime in to say that Brunson is one of the most underrated players in the league, I'll never understand why "fans" trashed this signing as LOL Knicks etc etc. He does nothing at an exceptional level but he does everything really well and has a really high Basketball IQ which will always take a player far.
Ask Luka about how much Brunson meant to that team as they hover around .500 after a 52 win season and are an absolute gongshow with Luka off the court.

Especially after years of bandaids at the PG position.

Exactly this. Randle is NOT a floor general and should be playing off of Brunson more often ESPECIALLY in those late game situations.

I wonder how many games we lost because we aren't relying enough of Brunson to be the primary ball handler in those late situations.

The games he was out of it after the 8 game winning streak - the TOR & CHI games - comes to mind.

Both RJ and Randle were cooking but they are simply not good enough to be ISO guys in clutch time. More so RJ IMO
