The Brooklyn Nets may be coming off their position that they unequivocally won't trade Kevin Durant, which is a change from their posture last offseason. Brooklyn's position appears to have changed following the trade request of Kyrie Irving. While Durant and the Nets are discussing their future together, a trade could still be more likely in the offseason than at the trade deadline.
"Now that Kyrie has been traded, maybe the Nets' position on not trading Durant as it really was kind of last summer may change," said Brian Windhorst. "That is an interesting development that has happened over the last 48 hours since the Kyrie trade from people that I've talked to."
When Durant requested a trade last offseason, he had the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat atop his list. The Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Pelicans were three other franchises widely considered as having the necessary assets to trade for Durant.
Durant has three more seasons remaining on his contract with the Nets.
What Durant is thinking about his situation is one of the biggest questions in the league that remains largely unknown.

Re: 2022-23 Season Discussion and Speculation 4 - Trade season continues - No player trade restrictions
Just watched the press conference. Matt seems like a solid guy, very charismatic. I was actually trying to find Sarver's press conference if he had one when he purchased the team almost 20 years ago, but I can't seem to find anything.
I think Ishbia could easily turn the Suns into a more preferred destination. We've seen it over the years how Phoenix has not been a go-to spot for free agents, and I think a lot of that was because of Sarver. Too often we've seen ex-NBA players talk about Sarver, even Nash I don't think has mentioned the Suns since he was traded. Seems a bit uncharacteristic of a player who has won 2 MVP's with the team, I'd imagine he would want to be a part of the organization in some fashion, but instead he went to Golden State and helped develop those players. This should be a breath of fresh air to have a new owner who is so enthusiastic about basketball considering he played while growing up.

Yup. I already figured that. As I mentioned, this is exactly how the Spurs did Kawhi. He wanted to go to an LA team, and they shipped him to the Raptors. Great they won a championship, a ton of luck was involved but it's one of those situations where the owners get emotional and make deals out of spite.
Think about it for Durant. Would you rather play with Chris Paul and Jae Crowder, or Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney Smith? I think it's obvious you choose the future hall of fame player, even if he is 37 years old. The Nets did themselves no favors in making this deal, and this is also why you are now hearing reports about KD's future with the Nets. Which is something I mentioned on Sunday...

Gordon to Phoenix has to be longest running rumor in NBA history, we're like 3 years and counting on that one.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Obviously anything is possible but I wouldn't expect a major roster shake up based on Ishbia interview on Luke and Wolf

Sounds like Westbrook for Conley and Beasley is close? Solid upgrade for the Lakers.

If we nab Durant they should just sign Dwight & Melo to fill out the roster

He honestly didn't say anything specific. He wants to win, money follows success, he won't hurt our future to make the present better, he thinks we have a good team but there's always room to improve and we will always try to win.

Re: 2022-23 Season Discussion and Speculation 4 - Trade season continues - No player trade restrictions
I personally don't want Durant anymore. I was fine trading Cam Johnson as the main piece going back to the Nets over the summer, but at this point, I keep Cam and let him launch 3's like he's Klay or Steph. Shoot 10 3's a game.
I'd actually be fine if the Suns traded 2 picks (and Shamet) for Clarkson and Vanderbilt because it would solidify the Suns roster for the next few seasons and be a championship caliber team. It's an offer I think Ainge would not refuse. Jazz would be getting picks plus Shamet and whatever they want from Bucks, Crowder goes to Bucks.
Paul / Clarkson / Payne / S.Lee
Booker / Lee / Okogie
Bridges / Craig / Ish
Cam Johnson / Vanderbilt / Saric
Ayton / Smack / Jock
Suns have versatility everywhere.
