Bought-Out Russ

Luke&RoCo for John Collins

Thanks for everything, John Wall!

Highly animated game threads for the rest of the season.

Russ gets benched in the playoffs, Reggie has one last dance left in him.

Our two stars stay healthy, the Zu/Collins one-two punch fixes our rotation, Mook rebounds and defends, Batum flirts with 50% 3P shooting, T-Mann does a little bit of everything, Norman Powell has poems written about his second unit heroics, the Clippers win a championship, MTV gets a Ty Lue tattoo in a visible place.

Yeah the uncertainty sucks, but the wrong deal for the right player will still hurt our team. Plus I imagine our FO is looking at possibly more than 1 deal, or 2 incoming players in one deal.

I’d like to think we’re still in play for Collins, if the right situation arises we could get him and a point guard.

Well, there goes my preferred target in Conley.

Wouldn't mind Russ on a min if he gets bought out, low risk type of situation.

Well. That’s 2 pg’s off the table in Dlo and Conley.

We really ending up with Lowry aren’t we.

I'd take Lowry vs overpaying for FVV.

Lowry would provide us with huge ballast in the summer that we can team with three firsts (28,30 + rights to whoever drafted this year) and a swap in 29, not that I'd be keen to do so.

But it would give us the option.

A couple of 1sts can easily be frittered away into nothing (which is what we’ve largely done besides SGA), so I’d trade it all for the RIGHT player.

It’s a shame we don’t have a big expiring contract this year to trade for Lowry. He’s negative value now, but we’d have to put at least one or two positive value contracts into matching his salary.

Not really sure what Gordon would do.. unless 1-2 of the scoring guards is going out in a deal (Jackson or Powell or Kennard), where Gordon would replace that overall scoring spark and general experience. Even so, there'd still be kind of a log jam like now?

I wouldn't mind him at all as a talent upgrade over Jackson or Kennard, though, he can still ball as a spark scorer, legit shooter and is steady. Like his game. Also can be offensive insurance if one of Kawhi/PG are out for 2-3 weeks or something, or a few games in the POs - you never know.

Roll with this kind of line up haha..

Gordon
Powell

Translation: Lowry's contract is so bad that we'll need to trade even more of our future away just to dump him next year. How is that good? Rondo and Wall all over again, but this time with an albatross of a contract. Our whole front office needs to be fired if that's our big trade deadline deal.

Gordon can't play the point and is a 37% career 3-point shooter [35% this year]. He can't replace either one.

I'm surprised at some of you wanting a washed out Lowry and with that contract.
No thanks!

I asked yesterday if a motivated Lowry could still be there? Turns out no if you can go by Heat fans. Sheesh they’re all but begging us to take him. Contract aside he’s out of shape again and has some lingering knee issue.

No way this is real.

guys imagine if we trade for both eric gordon and kyle lowry

but we keep reggie and marcus morris while offloading covington/luke/mann to make it happen

the fact that i feel there's a non-zero % chance the team wants to do this is depressing lol

well i dunno, the psychosis incurred by the mavs that made them trade for kyrie might be strong enough to make them do this

for us? now that'd be a gift. wood's not a guy who's gonna help us on the defensive front but he'll be a whole hell of a lot better than moses brown, and the fact that we'd create balance in our lineup, shot-taking, and decision making is a good thing.

i should add that i'd absolutely love to imagine that these "rumors" are just the clips doing their part to lower the price for FVV or perhaps other PG targets that are superior players and fits. but, meh, i just don't trust the team anymore.

Not sold on the Gordon idea, but at least you can count on him to play rotation minutes in a playoff series.

For as much as I like Luke, dude isnt playing if he's not aggressive shooting the ball. Think Gordon would take up a rotstion guard spot from Wall/Reggie/Mann/Luke, ect.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Can't be real. I can't believe Cuban would be that dumb. He already included his best defender in the Kyrie deal, so everything is possible.

If the Clippers trade for Eric Gordon I feel sorry for whoever gets traded to Houston. That team is terrible.

Dump him?

I'm talking about using him as expiring ballast for a big salary player. Big difference there.
