Don't care if they're bad defenders. At least they're good shooters, and now the Lakers have a chance to be a good offensive team at least, instead of being bad on both ends.

Upgraded to C- pending any further trades. Not going to give too many bonus points for essentially undoing a bad decision right at the deadline, but good start for getting the team a more reasonable path to the postseason.

D’Angelo/Shroeder/Christie
Beasley/Pat Bev/Lonnie Walker
Rui/Troy Brown Jr/Austin Reeves
Lebron/Vanderbilt
AD/Bryant/Gabriel

Still too many guards but that’s a lot of depth. And I don’t trust Ham to not play 3 guard line ups when we have so many.

Any chance of getting GTJ or FVV without giving up a FRP ?

My thoughts on this trade

I like it a lot overall

I am happy Pelinka did something. I will give him credit for making a very solid deal. However, I am upset that we didn't make a trade earlier or in the summer, it may be late, unless we start to really gel (and honestly maybe we will) and or get some luck from other teams

D'lo>Russ in terms of fit for sure, much better shooter and defender

Vanderbilt is a super athletic versatile defender who should get legit playing time. I see he can fit alongside Bryant off the bench.
I wonder if he can start, but I worry a bit maybe about spacing with Bron, Vanderbilt and AD frontcourt

Beasley is a good 3 point shooter, but he is a pretty bad defender, I would look to move him, but the question is who is available and reasonable for some 2nds?

I don't think Beasley and a 2029 1st is worth GTJ. Wo uld Toronto take a couple 2nds? Funny enough we could use some of those 2nds that we gave up for Rui....who I am still not yet convinced should start in the playoffs

Beverly starting in that lineup is meh....bit small

Regarding Westbrook, he has frustrated me from a basketball standpoint more often than not while in LA. That being said, I think he has still done some good things and had his sliver of solid performances. It takes courage to show up and play most games while taking on a new role / facing scrutiny that crosses the line between objective criticism & skepticism.

Aggregately, it was an absolute blunder on the organization (not going to point fingers personally) to bring him in, a less than optimal basketball fit to say the least, and his contract handicapped roster construction / rotations a ton - not to mention him probably having one of the worst player values relative to contract.

Ultimately, nothing against him at the end of the day; Hope he keeps going on & off the court. He’s stamped as one of the 50 greatest to ever play. I wish Brodie the best moving forward!

Vanderbilt will ultimately end up the starting PF. You can take that to the bank. That guy is a very underrated aspect of this deal.

Beverley/ DLo/ and Vanderbilt have experience as starters on a playoff team last season. Just swap out Kat and Ant man for LeBron and Davis and you have a quasi Timberwoves squad from last season.

I see Gabriel and Vando being pretty similar. I'd like to move Vando for value if the trade can be added to. Beasley is unnecessary too. A Beasley+Vando move for John Collins was discussed between Hawks and Jazz.. That intirgues me for sure. Beasley+Vando for GTJ straight up is cool too.

Nets could’ve traded Irving for Westbrook + 2 firsts and flipped Westbrook + 1 pick and ended up with:
D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, Malik Beasley + Lakers 2029 first

Instead Nets traded Irving and got DFS, Dimwiddie and a Dallas first (should be a late pick).

I think it’s obvious what would’ve been a better haul for the Nets but the owner let emotions get in the way of the better trade.

Vanderbilt and Davis will be a very good defensive front court (for this modern style of switching and covering the perimeter).

Very good.

You need to watch Vando highlights if you think he is like Gabriel...

;ab_channel=MattB.

He can guard tall wings like Tatum, KD, PG and then even play d on shifty Guards like Curry and then help be a rim protector

Idc much for John Collins tbh

I am fine with Vanderbilt

Here is what I would fix

1) A 2 way SG who I can depend on and can hit 3s
You could argue Reaves....but then who is the backup? Please don't say Dennis and Bev are going to be the backups, don't want this midget rotation anymore. One of Dennis or Bev need to play a lot less or even get moved so Ham cant screw us (However I like Bev, positive player overall)

2) A backup C who can play some D.
Vanderbilt helps here though and I am unsure who can be had for cheap that is better overall than Bryant

3) A more dependable 3/4 who can close games in a late round postseason series and shoot a bit
I am unsure if Rui is consistent enough, if he has the defensive IQ, and if he is quick enough for some of these scoring forwards who are shifty. But I truthfully don't see many options or I think we would have taken it instead of giving up 3 2nds for Rui

I’d rather we get Bojan, fits the team better then GTJ

D’Angelo/Schroeder/Christie
Beasley/Reeves
Bojan/Rui/Troy Brown
Lebron/Vanderbilt/Gabriel
AD/Bryant

That’s a deep team
