We are going to end up not making any moves except Crowder for some chump change and 2nd round picks. We are going to spin it saying this team is good enough as is while trying to hold out for a 36 year old Durant by the summer.

Plenty of moves to be made 6 through 9 on this roster that could make this team a legit contender hopefully they don't F this up

It didn't process until just now but the Wolves traded for both Gobert and Conley from the Jazz. Giving up multiple 1st, Walker Kessler who is looking like an absolute stud, Dlo who is playing better this year than in his all-star year. The Wolves are a strange franchise.

I wouldnt say its strange. We know first hand very well what a badly run franchise looks like

Wolves really enjoyed the Gobert trade fleecing and asked Daddy Ainge (sorry) for another one this time also helping the Lakers.

I guess we are back to GMs helping the Lakers because they have impulse control problems.

I'm wondering if Sarver cut the phone bill for James Jones office. He's been wondering why no one has called him this entire time.

Compare their roster now to the team that won the title. This team is better.

That should tell you how much better they got.

They're 3-3 since he's been back. I think we need to see how they play first but I wouldn't bet on them being more than a 2nd round team. Yeah I think this is a better team than the one that won it all but Lebron/AD are also 3 years older and they won't have the benefit of a very long covid lay off.

Jones has a Fisher Price phone and writes his trade ideas in crayon.

The talent level is second-tier championship contender - two theoretical MVP contenders with age/injury limitations, another fringe All-Star, enough players to fill out a decent rotation. But the fit looks awkward (they have far more volume scorers than plus defenders among the guys who deserve playing time), and they don’t have a lot of time to figure it out under a rookie coach. I’m more worried about them than the Mavs, but there’s still a decent chance they’ve lost more ground than they can make up.

I agree, Mavs have a much bigger and more glaring weakness on the defensive end. They may have one or two more moves/signings left to shore up their defense to get them to say middle of the pack and let their offense carry the heavy lifting but with a bottom 5 defense, their offense will need to be top 3 to give them a chance.

LA certainly got better but I'm hesitate to really say how much better. Ultimately they are playing catch up from 13th in the West and they'll need a bit of time for the new guys to really get into the flow of things so we'll see. Should they make playoffs, I think they could be good since they have Lebron and AD but again, health is always going to be an issue and none of the guys they've brought in are proven playoff performers. Certainly an upgrade over Westbrook but WB is kind of a negative

The thing is, I really didn't think they needed to be involved in this trade. I think they could've done better selling DLo to some team. They got into/roped in a trade involving Ainge and they once again got bent over. The funny thing which I didn't know until now is that Minny's GM, Tim Connelly (who basically built the current Denver Nuggets, so a very good GM) was the one who actually drafted Gobert but traded him for a 2nd and cash. So for him to trade for Gobert (with all of those picks), it's a bit full circle.

Like I find it really hard to believe DLo who is averaging 18/6/3 on great efficiency couldn't be had for more than a pair of lousy 2nds and Mike Conley who isn't even an expiring contract.

For sure! I'm counting on the J Brown injury making them more desperate as the tweet references to the point of moving them for Crowder who can play starters minutes. I'd also consider Gallo and Pritchard (without the 2nds of course) in a straight swap? But really want Hauser as he's basically a young Bogdanovic.
