Durant to Suns: Your take?

Gotta be KD: Suns win. You get a shot at an all-timer like Durant with term on his contract, you pay whatever price.

32%
Burning Bridges: Nets win, getting a haul of picks and a young stud in Mykal.
16
21%
Net Gain: Both teams win. Suns get their star, and Nets start over in a big way.

Sun Down: Both teams lose. Suns still won't get over the top and the Nets sink into mediocrity.

Bull. Give me Dinwiddie+DFS+2 2nds + the player we didn't have to trade to match salaried over the 2027 1st. We ot a 2029 unprotected 1st, just from a different team.

This trade is clearly a tremendous amount more than when Rudy Gobert was traded for. Like, it isn’t even close, this is in “most value ever” territory.

I think some people here are undervaluing the impact of Bridges. This is a great package to receive for the Nets from a team that Durant wanted to go to.

I don't see why they couldn't. If they are pivoting to a rebuild and don't think it makes sense to keep him long term, then the Irving trade simply turns into DFS + an unprotected 1st + 2 2nds + filler. They can probably flip DFS for a first, too.

That breaks the league.

Simmons Mikal Cam Crowder Claxton, with Dinwiddie off the bench.

That's a nasty defense and unstoppable offense.

I kind of like Brooklyn just leaving this team together honestly. Claxton/DFS/Bridges/Simmons is crazy defensively.

For the Suns... how can they get another forward? Is there a follow-up Ayton deal for center downgrade and forward upgrade?

Not really that was out of spite plus they can piece out the players they got for assets.

To be fair, Brooklyn doesn’t own their picks, so I think it makes sense for them to keep Spencer Dinwiddie unless a solid offer is on the table. They can still be a solid team, I could see them still hovering in the play-in territory by the end of the year.

The Nets should be amazing defensively if they don't dismantle everything. They could have a lineup (bad offensively) of:

Simmons
Bridges
DFS
Johnson
Claxton

I imagine they'll start Dinwiddie rather than DFS, but they can still switch absolutely everything and deny teams the PnR.

I think the Dallas pick is more valuable than either LAL pick, and they can probably flip DFS for a first, and Dinwiddie for two seconds at worst. I think that deal allowed them the flexibility to keep Durant barring this kind of offer, now they have the offer, and they can look to move some of the veterans in the offseason for other assets.

Crazy idea. Dallas goes and gets DFS back.

Nice defense but that offense ...

Simmons and Claxton can't play together

Yeah, I have Brooklyn keeping it together.

They have a pick swap with the worst team in basketball this year though. Could pretty easily get into the top 10 if they tried

Just to reiterate - Mikal is 26 and a half years old. He's shooting 39% from the three this year, 37.5% for his career. He has shown he is absolutely able to win defensive player of the year and can guard 1-4 positions.

Will he ever be the number one on a championship team? No, but he's without a doubt a guy who will help a team win a championship or push them over the edge. If Brooklyn decides not to keep him for a rebuild, they can turn around and trade him for additional multiple first rounders and/or young prospects as well. There'll be no shortage of contenders wanting to spend for Bridges.

Oh, I agree, I just think if they are going into rebuild mode (and this doesn't look like a traditional rebuild to me considering that they have a lot of good players) that flipping him for seconds if that's the best offer (and I think it might be a little more than two seconds, I wouldn't be shocked if they got a late first, but I don't think Dinwiddie is anything spectacular) it would be fine.

 I was gonna say it’s arguable that the biggest winner here is Houston.

Hasn’t Phoenix been trying to deal CP3? Is that done now? Does he still have enough in the tank for one more playoff run?

I think Nets end up pretty good with Bridges breaking out as George like 20ppg with defense.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Nets actually have a great defensive team, they just need an unashamed scoring guard and they can still salvage this season
