Durant to Suns: Your take?

Gotta be KD: Suns win. You get a shot at an all-timer like Durant with term on his contract, you pay whatever price.

Burning Bridges: Nets win, getting a haul of picks and a young stud in Mykal.
16
21%
Net Gain: Both teams win. Suns get their star, and Nets start over in a big way.

Sun Down: Both teams lose. Suns still won't get over the top and the Nets sink into mediocrity.

Still amazed at how quickly this turned around for Brooklyn. Kyrie asks for a trade, gone within 48 hours. Nets posture that they're *keeping* Durant...and then he's gone in a flash.

Kudos for decisive action, at least!

So, probably not a popular opinion, but I'm not liking this for the Suns. They raised their floor, yes, but they really closed their window. They are now older, more vulnerable to injuries, and have traded off their future. If anything goes wrong they will have little ability to pivot.

And things often go wrong when you have a PG CP3s age and a superstar with Durant's injury history.

This just has the feel of another of those New Owner moves where they reach for a title right away.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

You think Memphis has to do something to keep up or they're going to be patient?

I think we should be going strong after Bridges with some kind of offer like above. I think it would be us or the Pelicans willing to push the most in on Bridges. I think we need him more than the Pelicans but the Pelicans have more assets to offer. It will be interesting to see what happens. Bridges on the Nets as a very good 3nD guy is just a waste of his talent.

I don't think Memphis is now more motivated to make a small move for a depth guy, I think the chances of that was already relatively high if we don't find a bigger trade worth taking.

Not sure what Toronto is doing, but I think we are still pushing for OG but would rather have Bridges.

Suns went for the grand slam and sacrificed the late 20s for a chance at a title now. Similar to what the Clips, Lakers and even Wolves did. It paid off for the Lakers, and now, of those three, it may pay off for none.

I think it was a worthy gamble, though, I think Phoenix should've pushed real hard to put some sort of protection on the 29 pick, even if it was, say, top 1 protected.

Agree. I don’t really like this for PHX. KD and CP3 are both old and hurt a lot. I’d rather they have sold CP3 for assets and entered the summer with cap space and all their picks. Booker, Bridges, and Ayton were a nice young core.

Only thing here is that Bridges would have to be traded by himself according to the rules.

From the Nets side sure, that doesn't mean it has to be a 1 for 1 trade? Adams works too.

Bridges feels like a guy the warriors would open the war chest for.

Lot of teams to compete with but fits the mold of what they’d be looking for.

I agree with you. That is a TON of draft capital and they’re not nearly as deep as a team. Paul, Durant, and Booker are all injury prone.

Think long windows are overrated. Better to have great odds 2 or 3 years than good odds for 6 if the goal is to win a title.

That bench is looking bad bad bad though.

Nets have a few more pieces they could move for more assets.

Suns look lethal now but they have two old guys who get hurt a lot and just mortgaged their entire future for what? A two year run at best.

I mean, the Nets have bones for a nice quick rebuild, but it’s a little weird without their own picks. Definitely intriguing.

I think the Suns have more than that. Booker expires after next season, but Paul, Ayton, and KD are locked up for a while. I think they have time.

I've always been a Bridges fan since his Villanova days. His 3&D skills would be helpful for the Grizzlies. He may not be a scorer, but he's durable and reliable on both ends of the floor. If the Grizzlies can get OG before the end of the deadline, I can live with the move as well. With the west progressing in trades in the last several hours, the Grizzlies can't afford to sit on their hands.

It doesn't have to be a one on one trade. Just from the Nets side only. I think you brought up getting DFS as well. The statement lead me to mentioning the trade rules.

I think the rockets would give back their 24 first for Bridges. Not sure what they'd value more. Quantity from another team or a pick they control

CP3 is ancient and KD almost 35 and sustains injuries regularly already. Their window is very short. If Booker leaves they don’t even have their own picks.

I like what the Nets are doing.

That's a tough call. I just don't know if the Rockets would really do that though. Bridges would be a solid add for the Rockets but they are likely a few years away from competing unless they can sign another impact player or draft a star. Likely kind of a waste most of his cheap contract and he might not be happy to go back to a rebuilding team again.

Paul being locked up lengthy may not be a good thing with his age....Suns took a grand slam swing, and one every team should... hindsight will be interesting to see though, if they miss, a lot of folks praising them now, will thrash em

They've got Cam, Dinwiddle, Mills and Curry. Figure they rely on their backcourt for offense and cover defensively with a strong group of 3-5 defenders - Bridges, DFS and Claxton probably starting, with Simmons, Crowder and others off the bench. I'd expect they at least make the play-ins and have a plausible chance of holding on to a top-6 spot.

They want to be a play in team next year. Another top pick+a max slot+Bridges+ some internal improvement from Jalen and Sengun (and maybe even Jabari can be an NBA player by then), new coach and they can be scrappy imo
