Still a first round and out team. Still mid pick in draft. Still same old Knicks. We spent a 1st rounder protected or not on a role player just to be a win now team that is not good enough to win enough games now. We will never learn!

We'll be a tough out. Teams wont want to face us when healthy. We make 5th or 4th seed ...even better.

I like Hart but you’re right.

Championship contenders trade picks in a trade like this. We’re just reinforcing a mid team to be mid.

And there’s no superstar getting traded unless Embiid loses 1st round and demands a trade. Nobody else is getting traded. Unless Zion’s and AD’s injured ass is the ‘star’ you want or a 40 year old Bron. Maybe Paul George’s choking ass or Kawhi’s broken down self will get traded.

We currently cannot get any of these players:

Jokic
Giannis
Durant
Booker (not leaving now)
Curry
Taytum
Doncic
Donovan Mitchell
Morant

We will end up with the fake superstar category when it’s all said and done:

Trae Young
KAT
Beal
Lavine
Derozan
Butler
Ingram
Zion
Ayton

Or maybe Leon will do another nepotism move and get Chris Paul or an older vet like Klay Thompson.

There is no path at all towards a championship unless something extraordinarily occurs or we draft a superstar in the 20’s.

The extra wins don't matter. The real question is how the Knicks will do in the playoffs. RIght now 7th seed, 6th seed is within reach. Play to Play and 2nd seed (bucks) or #6 and 3rd seed (philly) - yup. Those are tough matchups, so . . . you could be right.

I think the Knicks have a shot against Philly.

That said, you could be 100% right, but they're obviously trying to build something, and they didn't give up too much. This is the path they've taken, trying to build a team around what they've got. As long as they don't give away any future unprotected firsts, I don't hate this plan.

I haven't read the specifics anywhere on the trade, but my guess is that if the Knicks lose the Play to Play and the Pick becomes top 14, the Knicks will keep it. It's their pick, not the Dallas pick going to Portland.

There's a tough path to 4th seed.

Assuming nothing crazy happens, Boston, Milwaukee, Phily, Cleveland are top 4. Nets could fall. I could see them falling to play to play and losing. Miami & the Knicks are neck and neck, so . . . 5th-7th seems likely. Currently 7th.

I don't know, but I don't hate the trade. Knicks are doing a slow build. If they keep Hart this off-season, then they hurt their cap space. . . . I like Hart, but the jury is out on this one as far as long term benefit.

They’re doing a ‘slow build’ because they have no choice. They will end up feeling the pressure and making a mid move for someone like Porzingis, Beal, KAT, Lavine, etc, put up a couple of ‘interesting high 40’s/low 50’s win seasons and get eliminated in the 2nd round before the team is ultimately torn down in 3-4 years.

You are going love to Hart. Plays hard, competes, doesn’t cry about shots.

Knicks got a quality veteran wing player without giving up a rotation player. I haven't read through this thread to know what pick we gave up, but thus far I f with this trade.

Cam/Svi/Arci NYK 23 top 14 protected. If we end up in the lottery it conveys to 4 2RPs.

I like the guy but liked CAM more.
Hard to believe we gave up our 1st in a deep draft and players for a 28 year old role player.

And the deadline ain‘t over yet. MORE PAIN INCOMING!
Mid status solidified.

decent trade.
whats most important for me is the outgoing pick is ours with protection. that means it either conveys or turned into seconds.
you still have those other protected firsts to deal in future deals because they won't convey this season (beside the dallas one).
this is a clever move tbh.

Right it would be tough. Maybe we get hot and Catch the Cavs. I thing we are up 2-1 against them and the Sixers. Also Embiid or Harden could get hurt.I

I agree on the choice for the slow build. It beats getting bent over. We can save our assets and pounce if a disgruntled start becomes available.

Ah. Individually. He also played in more games than Mitch(13) and Sims(8). Has 1000 more minutes than Sims and 700 more minutes than Mitch and 700 more minutes than Shart. So there is context.

He's a great rebounder. Good for us. He's a good defender. He's efficient from 2 but not from 3. Hope he upgrades the rotation.

I kind of want it to convey as a late first for this year over the reported 4 second round picks it'll turn into if it doesn't convey. I don't think late firsts are as valuable as those 4 seconds since a late first isn't that much better than an early second round pick.
