From an Xs and Os standpoint, this seems like a solid return for what we sent out and the pick protections are great...

But D'Lo is a loser and about as unclutch as it comes... I just don't see him responding well to the pressure of playing with AD and LeBron... Plus, Westbrook had finally fallen into the habit of playing halfway decent D and rebounding fairly well... D'Lo is not going to pay any measurable D and he's going to give the ball away at a frustrating clip...

this is a great trade, couldn’t have asked for more from a 2027 top 4 protected first.

Its a solid return. JTA and Jones isn't doing anything anyway and Malik/DLO/VAnderbilt >>>>>> Westbrook.

A few thoughts:
Malik Beasley has been top 2 and top 5 last two seasons in 3s made per minute. He can really shoot.
D'Lo is 26 and is putting up 18-6-3. 40% from 3.
Vanderbilt is a fantastic defender. Not much of an offensive player, but he can make an open 3 if left open.

By getting 3 rotation players for Westrbook - 2 in the back-court - I think Lonnie and/or Beverley might have to go. I would prefer that it was Lonnie since Beverley is solid defensively when he's isn't playing on the wing and he can shoot 3s. But if there's talent to be had with Bev+Lonnie, i'd say go for it.

Russell / Schroeder
Beverley / Reaves / (Beasley)
Lebron / Brown Jr. / (Beasley)
Rui / (Vanderbilt)
AD / Bryant / (Vanderbilt)

DLo will be used for shooting / floor spacing. Don't expect too much D from him. Better fit than Westbrook. Adding Beasley and Vanderbilt is addressing our need for wings so I expect that we won't do the ridiculous 3PGs playing at the same time and so our PGs doesn't need to defend opponent's bigger wings.

I really hate D’Lo’s defense.. or lack thereof , but I’m excited about Beasley’s Shooting and Vanderbilt’s defense and length. Also disposed the useless Jones and the overrated JTA.

Let's just hope the other 4 Lakers on the floor could cover up for DLo's defense. I sitll think this trade is a win for us because we got guys who can shoot and defend for Westbrook. If these guys won't turn the ball over as much as Westbrook then it's a bonus.

He’s looking for a lucrative contract so that should motivate him, plus I’m betting Pat Bev would be on his face if he’s playing horrible defense. Hopefully too Beasley can be there and step up if D’Lo is not cutting it.

Obviously a better fit, but I echo what others have said. D’Lo has not been a winner. Doesn’t change things too much… but really, other than KD joining, nothing could really turn this team into a seriius contender.

That's why I'm not worried about DLo because we have Austin, Beverly, Dennis and Lonnie to replace him if he's not doing well. I'm more excited that we acquired a wing who can defend very well. For me, I like this trade because of Vanderbilt and Beasley. DLo is just a bonus.

I think D'Lo knows this is make it or break it year for him in terms of career trajectory and what his contract will look like next summer. I think he will tear it up the rest of this year.

Beasley and Vanderbilt will be excellent as well. Rob made it happen like we wanted him to.

Russell has been good this season. I like this trade as we get another wing who can shoot in Beasley and a high energy big in Vanderbilt.

Yeah, they're prioritizing shooting.

Russell averages 2.7 made 3's per game, Beasley averages 3.1 made 3's.

And they're in advanced talks for Trent and Bogdan Bogdanovic as well, I'd say there's at least a 70% one of them will be a Laker for the Beverley/Walker/other 1st package.

The Raptors have just traded for Poeltl. Trent will not start on that team.

Bogdan is at 2.8 makes and Trent at 2.7.

Man don't watch Westbrook should feel good. What a terrorist on the court I don't know how many years I wanted him out. I remember that I open a post in some weeks after the trade because I knew what was coming.

Still Pelinka need to move more things. You need a good PG and outside shooter C. I don't know why he didn't wanted Olynyk.

Vanderbilt is a good one he fit like a glove with AD and LeBron. Only 23 years old.

I would go for DFS or OG not better Royce O'Neal. Prefer the first one more cheap I would like to be Pelinka he has a ton of assets to trade for a good one.

Only thing I like about this ...

Legroin fans can stop saying that Legroin needs help and Lakers are wasting his final years, yet again they've helped Bron with both AD/Russ sure Russ didn't work out, but you can't say they haven't been trying to get things done

And now once again Bron fans better shut up about Lakers wasting final years etc
Another thing I've hated about Bron fans haha

Kudos to Bron for the scoring title, but never would have done It with out the 3 point line :) facts, but paying respect when respect Is due and Kudos

Good trade for Lakers, but...

I think it comes a little too late in the season.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

I would prefer construct a team for the years past Lebron to come than win now Kobe as a example and if you can do both better. With this roster at least you have AD + young players some talent and assets to trade.

You don't go building around AD ... I think AD will be traded In the off season just my opinion.
