It’s structuring the roster in a more conventional way. They’ve needed a center forever and likely weren’t going to get Poeltl signed without his bird rights. So that’s a hole they fixed and it’s not like Poeltl is 30+ - his contract extension is going to cover his prime years.

The other piece of this is maximizing value. OG has absolute peak value, so if you move him you’re likely getting a haul of assets back - some of which make up for what we paid for Poeltl. If you move Fred, you avoid a S&T scenario and open up a bigger role for OG.

Change needed to be made, but they were never going to blow it up completely.

Unfortunately I think FVV will be sticking around, the Poeltl trade tells me that we want to remain somewhat competitive. If that's the case, trading Fred for Suggs or another youngs guard plus picks doesn't seem like something the FO wants to do. Looks like OG will be the odd man out, hope we get a haul for him.

Nothing. You'd have to look at either Memphis, New Orleans or Portland for a deal now.

And even then, Nets have Bridges whos better than OG and could be available as well

We want back good prospects for OG at a smaller salary

Just because youre not going all in for a KD like trade doesnt mean you have to be trading assets to tank

I think our interest in Hyland and Eric Gordon tells us the office knows we still lack scoring off the bench and we are in no way done yet.

OG needs to go, not only because he wants out, but he also severely lacks offence to make us a good team along side siakam and Barnes - think ISO, half court, playoff basketball in the clutch

Don’t think Nets want to rid Bridges, he’s still young and is pretty good. Nets have a glut of forwards now tho but they’re not as good as OG. I can see a Bucks and Nets trade for Crowder or a Nets and Heat trade.

I don't know if the team is looking to win now or trying to increase value in players for future trades. This team is no where good enough to compete in the next year or two.
