We had one of the most talented teams of all time and only won one playoff series.
Its the biggest failure in the history of sports.
And now we dont have our **** draft pick until 2028!!!!!
Marks was part of the problem. He needs to go.
yes marks was the reason kyrie landed on giannis' foot and wouldnt take the vax. grow up. these guys are grown men making 1/4 billion dollars. kyrie has done this to 3 teams now. harden did what he did to 2. those teams werent all gm'd by sean marks.
and who cares who owns our draft pick? honestly it's a GREAT thing because it takes tanking off the table. unless you want to watch tanking?
the nets now own more picks going forward than a typical allotment so complain all you want about picks but that's a non-issue.
especially if the guy making those picks is the same guy who picked cam thomas 27, nic claxton 31, jarrett allen/caris out of the lotto, etc.
Marks/Tsai let Kyrie and KD run everything from the start which empowered Kyrie to act like an idiot.
ah yes it was marks/tsai empowering kyrie that drove him out of cleveland and boston with only wreckage in his wake.
of course they empowered kd and kyrie, welcome to the nba. breaking news - super max championship players among the best of all time, one an mvp candidate with a net worth around 1 billion dollars, have influence on organization.
they took a chance on a roster that was a legitimate title contender and was on track to sweep the 2021 champs until 2 of their best players got hurt in game 3.
what was the better alternative? continuing to build around guys who have now been traded by multiple teams as nothing more than salary filler and not taking the chance at that championship even though they clearly had a real shot at winning it?
they GAINED more picks in the future than they would have otherwise and Jarrett allen is the only good player they gave up. and claxton's development makes that almost irrelevant any way because it's unlikely they would have paid both of them.

It's time to move on and while the team no longer employs a big name like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving - they have some young hoppers on deck, and I know Jacque will get the best out of them. I don't think Sean Marks is finished working either.
That Boston series was brutal. They smothered them out there. That Celtics team though is the real deal and a huge threat to win it all. Even if the Nets kept this team intact they were likely not beating a healthy Celtics team. Glad the Celtics kept their core together they will be tough for many years to come. For you guys the drama is over now and you can just focus on winning each game.

it most certainly could have gone a lot worse.
I kind of agree with this. You buy a raffle ticket. You lose. You can't complain later that it was a waste of money.
and in this case they didn't lose and walk away empty handed. they ended up with a few prizes (bridges, cam j) and more raffle tickets than they started with.
they didn't win the giant panda but they came close and arent empty handed either.

This team looks more like what Utah or Indiana is currently doing. This is the same board who was clamoring to deal KD last summer for the same damn package. It played out like expected in a worse case scenario.
We didn’t want Ayton because we didn’t expect Claxton to have a breakout season and Clax is far more cheaper. Nobody wants Ayton.
Crying like we got treated similar to the Cavs with LeBron or KD in OKC is pretty embarrassing. It’s normal to be frustrated and disappointed but it’s not purgatory.
Thank you. The team was burning up the league and this board was dead af, ppl suddenly act like they care now? lmao. We aren't tanking nor will we be remotely a bad team. Cam now has full room to grow and Bridges and Johnson will now have expanded roles to either keep here or to flip elsewhere for more assets.
I've been calling for Marks' head, but I give him credit. He managed to save his ass by these two deals. 8 first round picks. Cam Thomas explodes out of nowhere, Claxton takes a massive leap forward this year. We land two 26 year old 3 + D players, one of whom most likely becomes a 20+ppg scorer now in an expanded role.
Things look great for us right now.

I expect Harris and or curry to be moved now. No reason to keep them
Cam, Bridges, and Spencer can all score. Cam Johnson puts up good production when he gets the minutes as well, his efficiency is off the charts as a long ball shooter.
We're not contenders anymore but we are far away from being a bad situation. This roster is more defensive oriented with three point shooting. Cam and Bridges in expanded roles should also grow their value a ton.
They were role players on a team that had scorers. Now will have to be the main guys. Johnson isn’t going to shoot that from three when he is being guarded like a main scorer.
mostly agree except cam thomas. he wasnt a role player, which is why he never played. he only played heavy minutes when the good players were out and he could take heavy volume.
i have no idea how sustainable his success will be in the new environment but i think that's what the rest of the year is to find out and put on tape. he needs to get 30+ minutes and lead the team in shots. that keeps bridges/dinwiddie/cam j/claxton in more comfortable supporting roles anyway. i've never been a cam thomas believer so im probably not betting on him but he's shown enough im probably not betting against.

exactly. and with the majority of those 8 picks probably being 15 or later is there any other gm you'd rather have making them?
marks flush with young assets, draft picks, and a collection of defenders that actually feels very SAS is a hand id like to see played out. especially with his newfound knowledge of how much culture and character aren't just buzz words.

I said yesterday that if Bridges was auditioning for the Nets during the night before, he had won the job. We've got a young nucleus with upside.
We are very fortunate to walk away from the disaster that KD and Kyrie was with 5 unprotected firsts and a young team with some promising talent considering the amount of L's Marks took during that time. Now the problem of pick swaps with Houston has been mitigated for the most part.
I look forward to seeing how we will look. At the very least, we will be fun to watch.
Also, I shut Simmons down for the rest of the season.
I don't know man, I wouldn't have traded him.
We held all the leverage. KD was on a great deal. He himself is an all time great player. I would've given it more time post-Kyrie trade (that mfer had to go). But not KD. We're never going to have a player like that again.
We're the new OKC Thunder dude.

Memories seem short on here. Last year was pure misery. These clowns got obliterated and KD tried to head for the hills right in the middle of free agency.
Meanwhile Cam Thomas efficiently drops 40 points back to back to back in highly competitive games against good competition, and these dudes are crying over KD and Kyrie's bitch asses while ignoring the potential of what's to come. I don't understand yall at all right now.

I could care less. The guy you're upset over won us one playoff series against an injured Boston team. Selling high was absolutely the correct move.
We are nowhere near Thunder status.

Yall can downplay Cam Thomas all you want. You don't drop three 40 point games in a row at age 21 in the NBA unless you've got some serious talent. If Cam was on another team you'd all be chomping at the bit to get a player that can score like this.
The Nets have a good foundation to build up from. I have no idea why anyone is upset when we were all miserable because of KD and Kyrie.

I'm seeing on Twitter that Mikal Bridges is drawing trade interest still. Surely Sean won't trade him, right? He has to be the main centerpiece of that KD trade. What type of player could they get back in a trade for Mikal? They better keep him.

I hope they keep him, but if a godfather offer was presented, you have to consider it. I think he can be a future all-star & all-defense team guy.

a bridges trade would piss me off more than the kd deal. his contract is so good for me to move him the return would have to make the gobert deal look reasonable.

I keep agreeing with you! Now is NOT the time to ditch Marks.
I'll also add that with the roster they have now, I also think Vaughn is ok for the team at this point.
This is not an unbalanced top-heavy roster any longer and perhaps that needs to be played to.
I'd like him to keep throwing fresh bodies out there. I think he has the savvy to do that, give everyone some minutes and keep everyone motivated.
For me, rooting for the Nets has, at least, become fun again.

Well it was honor to read all 12 pages here! Freaking crazy how many were still awake when this unfolded! lol
Some posts i agree with, some I disagreed but respected, some i understand, some i'm eh?
The Clowns are gone! Harden, Nash, Kyrie and Durant. Yes Durant had his clown ass behavior on/off the court however his on court competitive form more than made up for it.
At first, yes I woke up and saw the ESPN notification icon, I'm like this must be it, and low n behold, the trade.
Seeing the return, it didn't really move me too much, but players i wanted regardless had it be the Suns with maybe a change or 2 in there. the 4 unprotected firsts is something we can use along with the swap so that helps offset the Harden blunder in Houston.
This needed to be done. It was a good exchange, sucks to know it's a bit of a white flag for the rest of the season HOWEVER, I will not be surprised if we actually go out there and maintain a legit competitive form through at least the play in with the current players.
Not the sexy names we want but talented yes they are. Someone mentioned in the thread, I forgot who but i +1 his/her post, we got a lot younger and more athletic. I hope we see some real energy and beasts out there competing with actual direction.

the make up of the team right now is a really good fit for all involved. vaughn wants to coach a 3 & d team just like nova (and boston) - bridges/claxton/dfs/oneale all fit that perfectly even if none of them are tatum.
it's also the best possible support system if cam thomas is going to be successful and not just end up a more talented version of marswag.
they are a tatum/kawhi away from being a legit contender but that's closer than a lot of other teams and they have assets to keep adding over the next few years.

I'd be disappointed if we trade Bridges. I don't care if we get 3 first round picks. He's only 25. I need to see what he can do here.
The guys we should be looking at trading are Crowder, Seth, Royce. Maybe Joe too but I wouldn't be mad at keeping him in a smaller role.
Dinwiddie / Sumner
Bridges / Cam
Johnson / Yuta
DFS / Ben
Claxton / ???
I'm fine with that team. There's some potentially KILLER defensive lineups in there. A lot of length. Good shooting. Cam should have plenty of time to shine.

Front office spotlight:
I'm a bit confused or maybe not in the know of why so much vilification that Tsai and Marks are getting. Up to a point sure, but the extended clawing has me lost. Especially for Tsai and Kyrie... from my perspective I've seen the franchise bent the knee to Kyrie without being rewarded for doing so. So when Tsai and the franchise made "line in the sand" moves, I respected them for it and proud that they did. Irving did not deserve to steal more money from us, that's lunatic and financially irresponsible... especially when the clown did not care to win here or conceding to their playoff opponent after gm 2 that the series is theirs and not for brooklyn.
The Nash hiring and protecting was 100% treachery LOL..... let them have it for that.
