Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
What's sad is that the Nets traded Harden, KD, and Kyrie for 7 first round picks and they still have a much better roster than us, even with a bad long term contract in Simmons
LaMelo would be a perfect fit with Cam Thomas, Mikal Bridges, DFS, Claxton starting 5. That would be a playoff team for sure

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Even though JMAC thinks we should run it back next year with the solid players we have, I will be severely disappointed if we don't get rid of some of these players today. I'd rather watch LaMelo and 14 guys under the age of 21 than this mess. I'll settle for 0 first round picks, just please get these players off our team (and don't pay PJ)

I have inched closer to this camp throughout the season. The combination of players simply doesn’t work. It’s a roster full of inconsistent streaky athletic players with low basketball IQ or high basketball IQ but recently became an adult lol. The crown jewel should be our expected top 5 pick and then we need to find ways to move off of Terry, Hayward (unlikely) and make a decision between McD and PJ because you can’t (or shouldn’t) resign both.

So trade everyone for nothing, then go to free agency with an awful team and a lot of money and be forced to overpay the players that nobody else wanted. Yeah, what could go wrong.
Have an awful team and then our best player in franchise history can demand a trade. Sounds super fun.

Wait and see at this point but an inability for a 15-41 team to move a productive 32 year old center on an expiring contract with a number of teams looking to shore up front court depth as they move into the playoffs is nothing short of organizational malpractice.

If no first round picks, young players with potential or expirings, I didn't say trade everyone for nothing
If Mitch had an ounce of wits (just an ounce), going into the draft with 60 million in cap space is extremely valuable. You can take bad contracts and picks for pure space, or the next star to demand a trade. And our team is already better next year with a top 5 pick and Miles Bridges, those two pieces matter more than anyone on our roster now besides LaMelo (the top 5 pick is worth 5 times more than PJ for example)

It is reassuring that even professional sports teams procrastinate until the last minute though.

The main reason, if we do nothing or close to nothing, isn't Mitch though. It's MJ. He is allergic to anything that smells like a rebuild. even if it's just for 1 season.

Rozier is probably not getting moved at this point.
Mavs and Suns were two of the biggest suitors and plus now Russ is going to get bought out and sign for peanuts.
I would focus on Plumlee and Oubre at this point.

Hopefully now that the big chips have been moved we can now capitalize on the other teams needs to counteract or fill out their rosters. Nets have a ton of picks and could use a guy like Terry. Nuggets/Kings have a hole at back up C. Suns/Bucks/Lakers could use some young legs at forward.

Steph Curry is expected to miss weeks due to injury. I wonder if they'll be interested with Rozier.

I'm looking around the East landscape and Plumlee + Rozier is the best duo in the conference.

I'm beginning to warm up to a Ben Simmons trade. That contract is just an albatross though.

Honestly not sure. There is still a premise around the league because he's still so young that the potential is still there and this and that.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Wonder if there'd be any way in hell of moving Mase/Terry (even Oubre) for Simmons and one of those four tasty Suns Picks (not sure if those picks can be traded due to the recent trade). I'd do it. That's a couple of expirings for the Nets and a 20ppg scorer.
Float Ben around 1-5 where needed defensively (you know, assuming we had a coach with that type of flexible mindset)

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Simmons is probably best as a small-ball C. So I'm not sure about his fit with Melo/Mark.
Would be our best defender but Cliff would give him the MKG corner of shame treatment.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Well the Nets can’t rebuild. They don’t have their own picks for the next 5 years. Rozier makes a lot of sense for them. I like Simmons as the pure PG for them though, I suspect they’ll just play with what they have. They have a good team with Claxton and Thomas emergence. Put our rosters together and I would take 6 Nets before the next non LaMelo Hornet
