Kyrie jumping ship to LA would be best case scenario for us but Phoenix still works too. We want Luka to be disgruntled and leave Dallas (maybe he'll sign here lmao) so that 2029 Mavs pick is potentially top 5.

Kyrie behaving himself for 60 days didn't warrant a fully guaranteed contract after all the crap he pulled for four years. No one wants to pay him, even now he's on Dallas he doesn't have a deal past this season.
Yet players love him? So what are they seeing that we’re not seeing?
Because we CAN sit back and say things freely? These guys don't want to say anything because they don't want to jeopardize their work and/or possible future work environments. They'd probably see you as a media rat of some sort if you go out and say something contrary to what an all star player is saying.
The players are fine being competitive against each other, but I'm sure there's a level of brotherhood amongst them where they won't speak ill about each other's off court nonsense.

Jaylen Brown from the Celtics went out of his way to defend Kyrie when no one asked him to.

This **** wasn't working.
And to be honest, Durant is not capable of being the lead franchise guy. He learned it the hard way.
He gets injured every year. Can't be a leader. And was literally sonned by Jayson Tatum in the playoffs.
I think Suns are a good situation for him. But more of the same wasn't worth it to me anymore.
Yes, this is the reality of the situation. KD is a great player, but he’s getting older, still picking up significant fluke injuries, and will only have an increasingly tougher time hanging with the younger stars in the league.
Unless you can surround him with enough quality players to do all of the dirty work for him (a la 2011 Mavs with Dirk), there’s a high probability that we were going to flameout in the playoffs yet again.
Considering how KD handled himself and led the team during the season (after his trade request), I’ll definitely root for him to do well in the West.
Not me. He was apart of the problem here too.
I have no good memories from his time here. Zero.
I can't bring myself to root for him or his crackhead friend ever.
Yeah honestly I said I would root for KD.
But thinking more honestly **** him too.
Hes the one that empowered Kyrie the whole time. And then demanded a trade.
Between KD, Kyrie, Harden, Simmons we had the most toxic Superstars in the NBA.

and who cares who owns our draft pick? honestly it's a GREAT thing because it takes tanking off the table. unless you want to watch tanking?
the nets now own more picks going forward than a typical allotment so complain all you want about picks but that's a non-issue.
especially if the guy making those picks is the same guy who picked cam thomas 27, nic claxton 31, jarrett allen/caris out of the lotto, etc.
Marks/Tsai let Kyrie and KD run everything from the start which empowered Kyrie to act like an idiot.
ah yes it was marks/tsai empowering kyrie that drove him out of cleveland and boston with only wreckage in his wake.
of course they empowered kd and kyrie, welcome to the nba. breaking news - super max championship players among the best of all time, one an mvp candidate with a net worth around 1 billion dollars, have influence on organization.
they took a chance on a roster that was a legitimate title contender and was on track to sweep the 2021 champs until 2 of their best players got hurt in game 3.
what was the better alternative? continuing to build around guys who have now been traded by multiple teams as nothing more than salary filler and not taking the chance at that championship even though they clearly had a real shot at winning it?
they GAINED more picks in the future than they would have otherwise and Jarrett allen is the only good player they gave up. and claxton's development makes that almost irrelevant any way because it's unlikely they would have paid both of them.
Yeah youre right.
Sean Marks was just the best GM ever!!!! Its not his fault at all that we had the biggest failure in the history of sports.
The better alternative was not give up all the power to KD/Kyrie. And then decide to take it back when we had no leverage.
The whole this was managed was HORRIBLE.
And if you cant see that you are utterly delusional.

The same Jaylen Brown who is part of the NBPA? That's nothing but show my dude. Kyrie's true colors are showing and everyone knows it; he's clearly showing his hatred for us and it's showing. He derailed the 21-22 season and it won't be forgotten, he also derailed this season for asking for a trade at an awful time. The last Philly-Nets game, it looked plain as day Harden didn't want to dap or be around Kyrie, and they took implicit shots at each other. THIS WAS ALL KYRIE. He was the domino and Marks had to make move after move and looked like a bafoon because of it.

i guess we're in the moronic hyperbole stage of grief. this isn't even the 2nd biggest failure in the last 10 years of this franchise let alone "the biggest failure in the history of sports". billy king pisses more failure then this every morning.

Re: WOJ BOMB: KD, TJ to Suns for Cam Johnson, Bridges, Crowder, 4 unprotected 1sts
I don't get why people are acting like it was a mistake to trade KD. It was 100% the right decision.
KD is a soft bitch. He wants a ready made situation for a Championship. If he were a true leader he would put this team on his back. Work with the front office to find another star. Hes not Dirk in 2011. He doesn't have it in him.
He only wants to team up with another star player.
So what do we do?
Force KD to stay. Give up assets to get John Collins or somebody?
For what? We saw what happens with KD and not the right team around him. We GOT SWEPT. The Celtics would sweep us again.
And then we go into the summer. With all this drama. KD asks out again to go to the Suns. And we keep forcing him to play? With no real hopes of winning a Championship?
The smart move was to just end it now. End the drama. End the speculation. And let the young guy grow. There is no more pressure on Cam, Claxton, Simmons etc.
Getting 4 first round picks was huge. Bridges looks like a possible All Star to me. What more did we really want?
Were going to try to force KD to go to the Raptors? For Barnes who I don't even like?
We had to trade KD to a destination he liked. So we could get the maximum amount of assets.
I have plenty of criticisms of Marks and Tsai. This trade was not it. We did the best thing we could.

right, he didn't condemn him. That's the point.
And then, he backtracked what he said and made it more about the issue versus saying Kyrie was being a dick.

Windy gave the best analysis as usual. Things were setup to fail from the start.
This is why you can't give Marks or Tsai a pass.

ok so even know how things turned you would have turned down kyrie and kd?
with hindsight what would you change that has nets in a better position today and/or had them in first place for even a day the last 2.5 years?

I would not have given them all the power from the start in desperation to get them. I wouldn't have done all the ridiculous things they wanted from day 1.
And if they only come here if we agree to all that then so be it. Thats why they didn't go the Knicks. Dolan was never going to let them call all the shots.
You don't fire Atkinson. You don't sign Deandre Jordan. You don't hire Steve Nash. You don't do any of the dumb things they wanted to do.

I think its all but certain Kyrie leaves this off season. For Phoenix or LA I don't know.
Once that happens Luka may start getting upset. In a few years he may want out. At which point we will have a ton of trade assets to get him. And this time we won't have to give up our own picks.
Who knows. Maybe Cam becomes an all star and Claxton keeps improving. Its all a fever dream for now.

the world you just described is treadmill mediocrity that wouldn't have spent a single day in first place and would have resulted in fewer assets than they have today.
if you think principled mediocrity was a better alternative then that's where we agree to disagree.

5 seconds for Crowder is pretty good. He sucks anyway.
