Horrible trade for the Raptors for a guy they could have signed in FA. Now Poetl’s agent has Masai by the balls. They gotta overpay to keep him.

We have two all-stars on decent contracts. The cap is about to explode to 171 m in 2025. What does Yak's value represent on a $20 mil contract in 2025, if OGs is three frps right now?

Could be a shot at fixing their atrocious defense this year? Remember this same roster was one of the best teams in the nba in the second half of the season last year.
People like to hear about how bad their shooting is this year but really what’s done them in is their defense has taken a huge step back .

Yeah, we got fleeced.
I like Yak. But giving up a lightly protected FRP for him isn't what this team should be doing.

Your FO offered Gallo (not sure how that's possible after we bought him out), PP, and some seconds (two or at least two) before we pivoted to this deal which had best protection and 2023 2nd round pick is underrated, too, I think.
Jakob preferred the TO option from among other interested teams so perhaps there's some negotiating room off of the $20M/yr he's seeking to stay where he likes. They have his Bird Rights now and get off the Birch contract.
We have definitely picked a direction and are disciplined about staying the course. This commitment is how you rebuild strong.
Wish Jakob all the best. I think TO fans will be pleasantly surprised at how much he's improved, especially a passing big. Great blocker, too.

I’d definitely say we pivoted to tank during the Tampa season.

I would have given a first if we could have gotten a wink-wink on Josh Richardson being bought out.

seems there's interest in JRich so hopefully there's a bidding war. He'd definitely shore up your team or any other's looking to make a deep run. He can defend, facilitate, create his own shot, and hits 3s as you know. Cool cat personality and competitive spirit, too.
How about that first now?![]()

Even then it was a pivot, similar to this year. We have never burned it to the ground. Separate argument for another day.
People are upset about giving up a 1st for Yak. We got out of a bad contract and gained a valuable asset(if extended) for the cost of a protected 1st. Those same people want 3 first round picks for OG and all unprotected. Insanity/Bi-polarity of being a Raptors fan
