Is there any good defenders that are over paid? Someone we could trade Dario and CamP for so the other team can get cap relief

We need to add a more athletic backup pf. Tj can be a backup Sf really.

And TJ can start until KD gets back.

That being said - I’ve always thought to myself that I would take 10yrs of suckitude in exhange for one championship. Guess I’ll get to see if I really believed that or not. Health is our boogeyman but if we are miraculously healthy we’re probably the favorites this year right? But if we don’t win it this year that’s basically it for us for the rest of the decade

EDIT - Maybe I should blame Ishbia for the value on this one

2nd EDIT - The more I think about this our D is going to suck. But it might not matter

Two things to make you happier...

1. KD is 34.
2. KD is a great defender.

Yeah, I had mentioned KD at 35 originally talking about getting him in summer. He turns 35 in Sept.

Not only that, but I really do not understand all of this crying about the bench all of a sudden...it's the exact same bench we had yesterday...

We trade 2 starters, and a non-player + picks, and in exchange, we get back 2 starters, one of which is a top 3 or 4 player in the league, even at 34. The bench that has been utilized this season, to date, hasn't changed, so unless we are crying over the same 'below-value' bench, with the same verve and vigor that we did yesterday, I'm not seeing how the staus of our bench is relevant to the argument against the trade, at all.

And tbh, Craig, Saric, Lee, Payne, Biyombo/Landale isn't a horrible bench. We also have Okogie, and/or Wainright to add some spirit to the defense, when needed. Yeah, Shamet is overpaid, but he's not the start-and-end of our bench. Payne is playing better this season than last, as is Saric, I'd argue.

and yeah, there's a distinguished difference in level of play between our starters and bench...but that's a good thing, IMO, as the Starters are where I'd rather have our (I'm sorry, Mat's) money spent.

I believe the paramount concern around upgrading the bench now post trade (despite your great points) is in the consideration of contrasting durability concerns between Bridges whom you could always count on to play, vs Durant and Warren who both have long history of durability issues/ injury concerns! So everyone is obviously hoping for greater insulatory depth (just in case)? :dontknow:

However, this season, you have Cam and Mikal's total games played is, what, 73 vs Warren and Durant's 65...not a huge disparity there, and Cam's just 26, and he's missed at least 15 games per season...maybe not all to injury, I honestly don't remember, but the bottom line is, he hasn't played much this season.

RIP Girlfriend is back. What a headcase. We thought our chemistry was bad before... let's trade two of the most likeable, young, charismatic players in the NBA for TJ "RIP Girlfriend" Warren and some other guy...

I'll miss Mikal and Cam. They were fun to watch.

I did kind of call that this would happen before the deadline.

Said maybe we should settle for Mills/TJ as a package coming back (or preferably Curry for Mills). Just got one player wrong coming back.

joke obviously

Suns need a two for one deal

Love and Wall post buyout market

Not that Im advocating these guys specifically but I believe with one open roster spot before the trade and a 3for2 KD deal that should give us 2 spots. Not sure where we stand on converting Ish/Saben from two ways at some point, which would complicate things.

Hate that part. Four four picks - should have been Shamet and Saric or less picks
Durant is a force and playing with Book DA and Paul - that will be tough

Just have to get to the ASB. Suns will be a tough out

I just wish they could have kept Mikal

Wall
Love
Maybe Terence Ross

Make a two for 1 trade today
If you get John Wall - you can move Payne

I expect there is a chance DA is moved today, and a very good chance this summer if we can find a solid C/good PG/wing that can handle in return. Hopefully something bettter than Rozier/Plumlee.

One option gone

The best option. Only cares about defense.

if we didn't get him, at least it's not another contender getting him. imagine if he went to Memphis or Denver.

Hills pretty close to cooked but as insurance on the buy out market, maybe.

Damn we needed Crowder to get Thybulle.

Or maybe Jones didn't want him.

To me just need a Bridges level defender, they're out there - Dort, Anunoby, Thybulle, J.Green are my shortlist.

There are really not many Bridges level defenders. He was 2nd in DPOY voting.

We really don't have any trade assets that would bring in a guy. You want him to shoot too.

Craig can be a solid defender and can hit the 3 unlike a guy like Dort/Thybulle. Who do you think we could possibly trade for OG? Ayton would have possibly been someone but they got Poeltl so no need for them.

Seems like the Suns could have used Crowder to get seconds and salary as part of a bigger deal

Use those seconds to flip today with Saric and what not

But buyout market - possible names
Love
Hill
Wall
Maybe Gordon

Suns will be popular

Those guys are handy but we have enough offense, need a guy to guard superstars.
