More pressure on the birds to get it done because it's going to be a long off season after our annual 2nd round exit. At this point I envy the nets because they have a hell of a start to their rebuild and probably will still make the playoffs.

Sounds good. The burning question is will Glenn play him more than he did Thybulle? Will he play him at all if he has a bad first outing?

With Thybulle not there to chase smaller guards around defensively no doubt Doc will immediately start using Jaden Springer in that role…crap, I could not even keep a straight face while typing that.

There has to be a Hunter/Collins trade today, right? What’s the point in having all these stretch 4s on the roster for ATL?

Idk

To displace PJ from starters he’d have to be really damn good

I mean PJ and his intangibles and all

We got the top two scoring duo in the league who can run the most lethal PnR. Two elite ISO players.

We have James Harden. And we still need help?

You got 20ppg scorer off the bench and a 16ppg scorer as 4th option. How many contenders can say the same thing?

Somethings wrong.

I think the team is fine. We’re just having a rough patch

If Embiid is Batman who is Robin?. Does the #s matter is all these guys shrink when the lights are the brightest?

There’s also just simple stuff like the fact that Middleton and Jrue created and hit shots when they needed to, and so far our guys haven’t. We’ve generally been good enough to keep those rd 2 series close or in our favor, but then we just don’t hit the right shots and lose the games.

Some of that is luck—eg Maxey definitely could get blazing hot at the right time, I believe that—but some of it also just seems like character o and talent. Embiid simply doesn’t take his best shots or get his best possessions down the stretch, Harden doesn’t feel trustworthy then either, Tobias is at best a D-minus Middleton on that front, etc. Maybe they’re better prepared this year but it feels like we’ve seen plenty of them not seeming quite up to the task.

Probably would be in on some of these if we didn’t tamper and lost those seconds lol

If the issue is that we traded Thybulle for Jalen McDaniels and we didn't get better, then you're simply wrong. Jalen is a +2 STL% while doing literally everything better on offense than Thybulle. He's also 4 inches taller and can actually defend the SF/PF.

Who has Jalen McDaniels locked up on defense?

If this is your standard, you were always going to be disappointed in what we acquired for Thybule.

I don’t know, can anecdotal evidence suffice?

You constantly quote numbers, all of which are very impressive with no context. But without looking at said context it is impossible to get a clear picture of what this team is and why it always has issues in crunch time and against better competition.

That Bucks team and especially those Warrior teams had much more going for them beyond impressive 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th option scoring numbers. They had versatile, complimentary rosters, excellent coaches with real plans and a clear understanding how to maximize the talent on hand and adjust when needed, and they play the game the way you win in 2023, as opposed to 1993 as we do here.

Numbers and analytics are wonderful in a vacuum, but without context they are often worthless.

Didn’t expect so much negativity about McDaniels, he’s big and athletic and shoots and finishes much better than Matisse. I loved Mouse-Man’s ball-hawking and steal-hunting as much as anyone but he wasn’t happening for us and was gone soon anyway, so I thought the trade was at least a solid move and maybe much better.
