Basically protected if they completely miss the play in or miss the playoffs and win the lotto, worth noting that since it's actually the worst of OKC and LAC both teams would have to be outside of the top 9 for the protections to come into play

Seems like Houston GM is shipping guys so the Houston coach has to give minutes to developing players.

pg - Porter, Tyty, and Nix (please cut this guy so he quits sucking minutes also)
sg - Green, Christopher
sf - KMart, Tate, Eason
pf - Jabari, Garuba
c - Sengun, Boban?

Would have been nice to get an asset for either Tate/KMart but I am fine keeping them. The rest of the guys are hopefully part of the future (unless they do not develop - which is why it is great thos three guys were shipped).

I think LAC is banking on that swap being more like 3-5 spots by year end. We'll see.

Well of course they think that lol. Can't see it being less than 6 unless injuries or something happens. They aren't catching Memphis or anyone above them. Think PHX and Dallas surely outpace them along the way as well. Milwaukee is closer to being the 30th pick than Lac the 24th

This draft is solid until the end of round 1 - BUT, the choices decline through the first.

Top 10 are nice.
Next ten has potential and a lot of high scoring prospects.
Around 21-23 range you get to guys that should be good role players (Sasser, CJones, etc.) or talented but potential bust types (Lively, Clowney, DMitchell, LMiller, etc.)

Idk if he just got bad info or what but actually top 6 protected, OKC and LAC would have to both win the lotto

Even if LAC gets hot, I think the worst case is pick #21. Probably more like #18.

So, how high can we get with some combo of - - -
#18 (or so)
2024 BKN 1st (HOU could add top 4 protection or not)
2026 BKN 1st (same)
four or five 2nds
Garuba, Christopher, Tate, KMart, cap space

They're two games out of #23 not sure how 21 is the lowest possibility

Way ahead: DEN, MIL, BOS, CLE, PHI, MEM
Tied, but I think they finish stronger: PHX, DAL
[that puts them at #21]
right on their heels: GS, NO, MINN
Should/could pass but who knows: NY, MIA, BKN, SAC

HAHAHA he was traded after all.

Where does Danny Green go? Has to be Phoenix right?

Would be great back on Philly.

Presumably this reflects the Griz thinking Green is pretty close to done. Or, I guess, that Kennard can look more like he did last season than how he's been playing this year.

Green is still probably an interesting 12th man type for a contender, but it seems unlikely he can replicate last season or anything like it, unless the Griz screwed up

I'd be in favor of keeping Green as a vet guy and waiving everyone else to be honest, but I've always loved Danny Green so I may be biased

I am content with this move for the Grizz, it was along what I expected. We desperately needed shooting and some secondary ballhandling which Kennard can provide. Plus I think we really wanted to keep that salary slot alive, Kennard as a 15m expiring next year gives us a lot of flexibility. Obviously not the Bridges/OG trade we all wanted to see but I do think we made our best pitch for those guys but seems we were unwilling to meet the reserve price to pull it off which is fine given the likely high price.

Same. Grizzlies got him really cheap as well. Very curious as to what the second best offer for Gordon was because I think the Clippers are going to find it difficult to recoup the value they sent out. Now if this is this is the last hurrah for the current core, maybe this season and next are all that matters.

We got a swap while also taking on guaranteed dead money next season, this might end up being a good deal and as valuable as a late mid-late first come season end, we will see. I'm very surprised about the protections being as low as 6? Figured LP was an easy bet. LAC could have injuries and hand out a lotto pick which is wild.

As for the report, don't really care to read too much into it. IKO is just a mouthpiece and this FO has been caught leaking fake offers already.

They sent out a pick swap while picking up three seconds, not much to recoup, especially if they climb back up the standings.

It's just funny they dealt Shamet for Kennard and four seconds initially, and now, deal Kennard and a swap for EJ and three seconds.

It also gives them about $60M in expiring contracts, three firsts (agree on draft night with the rights to whoever is picked in 23, 28 and 30) and swaps all around. Not a fan of the swap, but the three seconds help out.

They didn't take any guaranteed money for next year.

Ah Wall's 2nd year is a team option?

Didn't catch that. The deal definitely has solid potential for Houston
