I love the trade I told everyone at the beginning of the season we needed another center and we finally got one.
Defence Wins Championships,we need to return to the Bad Boy era.

about the only positive i can take out of this trade is that now we have two of the best dunkers/inside finishers in the nba (duren and wiseman) for cade to use as weapons.

now we just need defense, play making, bball-IQ, talent, experience and shooting...

Terrible move, what a waste of Bey. Wiseman can't play.

Shutup and take your bigman!

Next up, Jabari Smith Jr in a few years.

It was widely reported that Weaver loved Patrick Williams going into that draft.

So when Chicago is ready to jettison their bust, Troy will come a calling.

His path towards relevancy in Detroit sure seems to be far more uphill than it was in California.

Couldnt disagree more with all of this. Warriors reward ability to adapt to Steph/Draymond, or big time BBIQ. Wiseman was effectively coming straight from HS, were schemes are simple. He usually got the ball at the block in HS, but W's dont operate that way. Its high-pick motion offense, where the screener has to read what Steph/Draymond do. Its why Wiseman was very successful with the PnR with Poole and Ty Jerome, guys who aren't BBIQ+s.

Its why guys like Jamychal Green struggle, and why guys like Bjelica were fine. The system is built on smarts and experience, and Wiseman was behind the 8ball due to a ton of circumstances (his college "career", COVID ruining his 1st preseason, injury ruining his 2nd pre and entire season, etc)

Replace hype with context and you guys should be very excited. Probably would be more excited if Duren wasnt here already but still.. when its all said and done, I'd bet Detroit fans will be happy with this trade, with a solid chance of it being a heist

I remember the same exact thing said about Greg Oden.

Can already see Ivey for Williams happening. Weaver will be so psyched!

I think the valuation of Bey was fine.

No idea why we decided we wanted Wiseman over the second and savings.
That's fair. I prefer Wiseman here just based on having higher upside. We have depth. Lots of depth. Maybe the value isn't as good considering the giant bust potential, but I don't mind that we rolled the dice here vs adding a 16th, 17th, 18th or 19th player to our roster.

I don’t mind getting Wiseman but we should have dumped Bagley

Man, finding it hard to get behind this.

Bey had his issues (main ones being inconsistency, defense etc) but he has at least looked like a serviceable NBA rotation player thus far and still has room to grow with the upside to be a starter on a good team.

When Wiseman hasn't been injured he hasn't looked like he belongs on an NBA court. That can change of course but early signs aren't promising.

And to not even get a second round pick or two to sweeten the deal? Don't understand this at all.

I guess we swapped one reclamation project for another. Bye bye Kevin Knox II.

Yeah, this is really, really bad. Dumars circa '09 to '14 bad.

I hope I’m wrong on the first three

As for the league, some thoughts
- TRUE: Crowder gets traded
- FALSE: Fred Van Fleet gets traded
- TRUE: James Wiseman gets traded
- TRUE: Eric Gordon gets traded
- TRUE: Bones Hyland gets traded

Missed on Van Fleet. Wish I had been wrong on the Pistons’ moves.

Would much rather have moved Bey for Thybulle straight up.

People talking themselves into Wiseman haven't seen him play much. Dude has a ton of red flags. His biggest issue has been his IQ and slow mindedness on the court. This doesn't just get turned around magically. Duren is already light years ahead in this area.. the contrast is stark.

Best of luck to Saddiq. I was in the building for his game winner against the Warriors. Can't not root for the guy now.

$131 million in savings for Golden State. Gotta imagine some of that change fell into the pocket of Gores or Weaver.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

For Wiseman (ironic name) to improve his BBIQ he needs to play. He’s been hurt so much he hasn’t played. I think he still has some potential.

Weaver's "I can fix him!" Team:
PG: Dennis Smith
SG: Josh Jackson
SF: Kevin Knox
PF: Marvin Bagley
C: James Wiseman
Bench: Jahlil Okafor

All that in just over 2 and a half years!

Much less than that since they essentially got GPII for Wiseman.
