Well, the worst outcome was always going to be a stupid all in trade so at least that didnt happen.

We really are the worst franchise in the league. Laughingstock. Being bad is one thing. But indifference? How do you stand pat with this roster when literally every other team is making moves.
We're an awful team that behaves like we're good.

Maybe Tommy knew he couldn't blow up the roster but he could prevent going all in on a 10 seed at best roster? That's how I'd justify it if I were Tommy.

Wow. They really did nothing. I guess the goal is play in game&keeping a pick in the 8-12 range.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
Hawks did enough to make them significantly favored to beat us in a play-in series, should it come to that.
Biggest reveal of today is that after all those years of pumping up a Wiz draft pick (Rui), said players value ultimately ended up being inferior to GP2 and Crowder lol.
Just food for thought. When we're thinking most of these young guys are probably mid at best, then the best thing to do is sell them early before the writing is on the wall.

The writing was on the wall with Johnny Davis 5 minutes into summer league. We’d be lucky to get one 2nd round pick for him

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
I will say mediocrity is probably something they aspire too.
'19-'20: 22-43
'20-'21: 34-38
'21-'22: 35-47
'22-'23: 25-29
I know you know this, but laying the #'s out really shows how little they aspire too period. Zero .500 or better seasons since taking over and a cumulative record of 116-157.
That's straight trash. It aint tanking (idiots, five years to figure this out and still clueless), it's accidentally being totally irrelevant and then failing to utilize any of the rewards for incompetence (draft capital). Winning percentage of .424 and they think it's just injuries and bad luck lol. Really?
So lets just say I'm relieved that the extent of the stupid they engaged in was trading Rui for nothing. It could have been worse, the worse probably happens in the offseason with more anvil grand mal idiocy contracts like Beals and Wall's and Mahinmi and on and on and on.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
I am surprised that we didnt improve around the margins. Maybe the thought is that there will be someone available after buyouts happen..? Who knows. Well, let see how far the mid-3 take us.

It's bad to say it or repeat it actually, but I can say that I'm relieved we didn't trade picks for some rental or some stupid insanity of that sort, keeping the bleeding to a minimum of dumb contracts should hopefully capsize us by next year allowing for them to blow it up in '25 or '26 lol.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
So I guess we are gonna hand Kuzma a massive contract this off-season or lose him for nothing. That is absolutely terrible.
No clue why Barton and Nunn weren’t moved for literally anything.
Hyland returned a couple 2nd round picks, so we definitely could’ve gotten a fair bit more for sending Morris to the Clippers.
GP2 went for 5 2nd round picks, so what could Delon Wright have returned?
This is just awful.

Atleast Quentin Jackson was signed to a two way contract finally. He would be a huge addition to the NBA roster.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLV
Most definitely going to buy out Barton and put Jackson on the big league squad. It’s a small move, but Jackson is a big time prospect flying way under the radar. He could be shot creator that they need wheneve Nunn is out her point shaving for 20+ minutes a night.
