Fine, but not enough. Addresses the reliance on rookies for rotation minutes. That's about it.

Re: Woj/Shams: Kennard for Green/2nds
I know this wasn't the deadline we had hoped for, but unfortunately I think this may have been roughly as good as we could do given the circumstances.
-No trade happened where I felt we should have been the one involved instead of someone else. Mostly it was players that wouldn't have moved the needle for us.
-The one big exception to that was KD. In order to match that package, we would have had to include one of the core 3. The Nets also seemed to have already told KD they'd help get him to PHX so there likely wasn't any sort of opportunity for us to bid anyway.
-Bridges we made an offer on involving multiple 1sts but the Nets had no interest in moving him.
-Toronto doesn't seem like they really wanted to move their guys so I don't know how available OG even was, but we offered a package that involved at least two 1sts. We tried to upgrade the team but Toronto didn't bite.
-Kennard is a top 5 3pt shooter in the league so helps address one of our biggest weaknesses. He also didn't cost us any significant assets so we still have our full war chest for moves this summer.

Kennard will do a wonderful job with his gravity, hopefully Jenkins can convince him to shoot the damn ball when he gets it, which Lue just couldn't

Re: Woj/Shams: Kennard for Green/2nds
Don't get me wrong - the Kennard addition is a really good trade. It appears that there isn't much more we could've done. If we were the team offering 4 1sts for Bridges and the Nets still didn't bite, what can you say? Nothing anyone could do.
I would have liked to move Brooks as a part of a package for Bridges or OG, but maybe no one wanted him or there is extreme pushback from the team internally with Ja and others.

You need DB in PO battles. Let’s stay objective and fair - he has his flaws, but he can deliver what his teammates cannot - experience, motor, toughness, physicality, attitude of a true warrior.

Re: Woj/Shams: Kennard for Green/2nds
It took me a minute to wrap my head around this one. First, I will say this trade deadline has been one of the wildest, if not the most serious one for the Western Conference. If the race for the playoffs was tight before, it most definitely is now. The move for Kennard helps solve half of the issue for the Grizzlies that is shooting the rock. Kennard's high percentage should help the Grizzlies go a long way to creating more space for the offense. The Grizzlies will have to do their due diligence to hide him among the defense due to Kennard's defensive woes.
Since both Nets and Raptors were unwilling to get off of Bridges and Anunoby respectively, it was a good thing not to be rash and rush into a bad trade situation that could prove regretful. I do expect the Grizzlies to knock on the door to the wing issue come the offseason. Whether it's to retain Brooks or a sign and trade or a free agent signing. Otherwise, trading for Kennard was unexpected and a different result from what most of us had in mind. I can live with it for now.

What are your overall thoughts to what Kennard brings to the table outside of shooting? I'm aware of his lack of defense is an issue of his for quite sometime.

He's a decent secondary/good third ball handler, not someone you want to rely on to facilitate consistently, but has the ability to do so. We've seen a lot of that this and last year, which ties into his aggressiveness on actually shooting open/semi open look, which he'd pump, drive and dish instead.
Defensively, he gives effort, but still not someone I'd rely upon on that end for man defense. Very intelligent team defender, in the sense, he will force his man to go towards where he has help more often than not.
If Jenkins can unlock his aggressiveness, it's going to be a great add, versus a good one, as I see it, and that's why Frank decided to trade him, imo

Attitude of a true warrior? Rolling on the floor in an attempt to inconspicuously hit his opponent in the nuts? Or making an overzealous foul in the playoffs last year and earning a suspension when his team needs him? He provides defensive value, but if we could find another to fill in that same role, he is expendable. Let's not pretend otherwise. We offered for OG and likely Bridges, but the Raptors and Nets were not willing to part with them.
The guy is a black hole on offense and we can upgrade our defensive stopper.

Oh suddenly the team needs him in PO? Interesting…
As to Mitchell’s balls, you guys suspiciously care too much about them. In my view, our opponents’ asses and balls shouldn’t feel safe when they meet the Grizzlies. That’s our GnG identity. I want all the NBA hating us because they are scared. Those who don’t like this should use the first stop to exit.

I said he is expendable if we replace his defensive production. Not sure where you aren't following.
I am the only one (that I am aware of) to mention that incident. I can't tell if you are being sardonic, or if you genuinely believe that GnG toughness involves ball punches?

Find your “backstreet boys” team and enjoy it brother. You deserve a better team as you are a nice person and knowledgeable fan. I’ll stay with my beloved Brooks to watch balls and asses kicked around hopefully in every game.

What is a backstreet boys team? Hahaha. Do we know each other?
The antithesis of ball punches is Zach Randolph. I miss that kind of toughness. I appreciate Ja as well.

A “backstreet boys” team is a team fully consisted of very nice players who care about their public image, as well as the balls of the opposing players. The opposite of Kyrie Irving and Dillon Brooks. There are lots of teams full of such …
Speaking of Zach and what good boy he was, did he punched Adams in 6th game or my memory doesn’t work properly?

Re: Woj/Shams: Kennard for Green/2nds
Intentionally cheapshotting someone in the balls isn't being a tough physical player, it's being a dirty player. If you've ever played the game on any level or if you are a fan of the sport in general, I can't believe someone would support a dirty player regardless of the jersey he wears.
