I'm only 3:11 into his highlight video, and I've already counted 7 dribbles: 2 on a closeout, 2 on another drive, 1 each on 2 escapes, and 1 to gather after an offensive rebound.

Frankly, that's more than I expected. :)

I mean that speaks to the poor GMing job Stevens has done at C this year, not so much of it being a win so I'm not giving bonus points for poor performance here.

But for 2 seconds I'd suspect this is someone Stevens is certain is at the very least is a clear upgrade over Kornet for us.

Seems like Stevens went out and said... you know what this team needs... Gallo but he's still broken huh.. hmm well here's the closest thing I can get to a poor man's Gallo for less than 1rst round price. And here he is.

If he isn't better than Kornet than I suspect he isn't much Value Over Replacement for anyone we could have just signed for free without costing us second rounders after the trade deadline this week.

I think you underrate Kornet.

Very much so yes. Good depth piece and should allow them to be more comfortable with resting Al and/or Timelord down the stretch.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm just making logical conclusions based on Stevens going out there and paying 2 seconds for him.

He obviously thinks very highly of Mike. Probably moreso than a 4th Center on the depth chart level if you count Luke as our 3rd.

This wasn't a nothing depth free agent add.

"4th center" is misleading when one of the guys you're counting is our starting PF.

That said, we have 2 starters hurt right now, and 2 others on minutes/back-to-back restrictions, so there's plenty of opportunity for everybody to have some regular rotation minutes.

Okay more than your 11.8 mpg backup Center.

Does that work better for you than more than Kornet's backup instead of the term 4th Center?

Honestly I think this is just pedantic at this point.

A guy when players are healthy who has a place in the rotation.

I think it's fair to assume Stevens given the price he paid for him thinks he is of that value to the team or he would have just picked up someone for free for just depth behind Kornet.

Fleeced OKC. Didn't have to give up 5 2ND RD picks.

SOURCES: Muscala’s jersey number in OKC is 33. The Celtics received Larry Bird’s blessing to unretire his number for Muscala to use.

Spoiler:
Probably 4 (3 + 1). 31 was his number in his previous stops.

Watched a few OKC games this season and have liked what I’ve seen from Mike. Decent player, good locker room vet presence.

Center/Big man rotation:

Rim protectors: Rob, Al, Kornet
3 point shooter/post defender: Al, Grant, Muscala, Blake
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

How disappointing. East improved but we wasted two picks for a nobody. Yeah lame. I'm looking at all the second rounds just flying out. And I was stoked then I was wait what?

Bey cost 5, I'd do that
Good assessment:

Yeah. Just a nobody who's 6'11", shooting 40% from 3. Knocked down 4 threes the other night to help OKC beat the lakers, when the entire world was watching Lebron break the record. Good interior defense metrics. 7th in the league in +/- rating. Extremely high efficiency in the PnR.

Yup, a nobody for sure.

Yeah, you are right, not in THIS dimension…..

However, in THAT dimension linked below…..better than any big on the roster other than Rob or Al.

Checks many boxes

• solid big
• admired veteran and great locker room presence
• doesn’t complain about PT and role
• teammate of Horford in ATL and OKC
• Stevens type of player
• good shooter
• comes cheap, salary and trade cost
• has a team option

Good article. Sounds like a great guy to bring in to the org.

And I didn't' realize he was a Bucknell grad. Wow, he must be wicked smaht!

Muscala won't make dumb mistakes. He will make the right play most of the time.
