Heh... it is also a bit wonky because 7 presumably looks like either 25 or 52. I always guessed that it is usually not ambiguous with only 5 guys on the floor. And hard to use to your advantage; if you numbered your players 7, 25, 52, who is to say you'd end up getting fouls called on the "right" guy by accident instead of the "wrong" guy heh

I want to see GP2 be the first 000. If they can fit Gilgeous-Alexander on the back of a jersey, they oughta be able to squeeze in a 3rd digit.

Ill say this much, if our defense still sucks, then the core has no more excuses.

GP2, DDV, Dray, Wiggins, Loon… *should* be able to lock teams up. If Klay and Steph can be solid, Poole is the only weak defender in the rotation.

Happy to have GP2 back if he can stay healthy. Unfortunately this will likely be the only season that we will have the luxury of having both GP2 and DDV together. DDV will very likely decline his $4.7M option and the most we can offer him is around $7M. With his 41% shooting so far on 3's (certainly better than I was expecting from him), pretty sure some team(s) will offer him more than that. And sadly that outside shooting is one area where GP2 is unlikely to be able to compensate for DDV's loss.

But for this season at least, defense is the area where most people (fans and pundits) have identified as a glaring need so if adding GP2 doesn't solve that deficiency then Kerr will have to go back to the drawing board and let Myers and Lacob know that he is punting this season. But hey, if the end result is the team replaces Wiseman with Wemby, I don't think too many tears will be shed!

Wiseman for Payton (with some financial benefits). Not horrible, given how things transpired. A bit disappointing. I still won't be surprised if Wiseman ends up being much more valuable than that, but it will likely take some time, and I can understand trading him for a benefit in the present.

Yup agreed. All I was saying is that I'm happy we pulled the plug on the Wiseman experiment by bringing back a player that was great on our team. But also acknowledging just how awful the wiseman experience was. Hope he has a good career in Detroit.

Let's give credit where credit is due. This trade hightlights two Bob blunders.

Drafting a 7' 19 year old project and hoping he contributes to a Vet team that needs help NOW. There were many on the board wanting a third year solid type player to go with the Curry timeline. Wiseman pick is very much like the Kinds Bagley pick. Bad move.
Not re-signing GP2 in the first place.

Payton's salary is about $1.3M less than Wiseman's, so they'll knock about $8M off this year's tax bill.

These two will help to improve Green and Looney rebounding too, b/c they won't be so many time out of possition to help bad defender. Payton will eat Jerome/Lamb minutes and this is huge improvment on def ends. Also he will bring more balanced offence, b/c he one of the best finisher at the rim. We are too heavy on 3P shooting.

So DDV and Kuminga must to replace OPJ production and I hope they will do it.

I guess so. If we are looking for silver linings... they are both good rebounders for their positions.

But a big that could also protect the interior and stop our constant layup line would have been nice. Got a feeling our interior defense will be fun to watch for the rest of the season despite the GPII add. Feels like we need to bring Don Nelson back... but maybe Kerr has it under control.

Might not be enough, but anytime you got Steph and a decent supporting cast you're in with a sniff. Even Poole, who's deficiencies are noted, can give us a spark if required like last season.

Got 27 games left to get Steph back and establish an identity. It's enough, if that's all it takes

If he could rebound, he could be entrenched as the back up 4. Gp2 is just going to eat most of jks perimeter minutes.
