I hate that "newsbreakers" have replaced reporters.

Have these dweebs like Woj actually confirmed the full terms of the trade yet?

You actually have to be on the court to be the teams best defender. Matisse is unplayable in big moments so his amazing second quarter blocks & steals are irrelevant. Glad to have a wing defender who looks like he knows what a basketball is when he catches it.

Thank you. Woj and Shams don't do **** anything. They provide no value whatsoever, except to agents and executives. We need to purge the media of these parasites.

Notes from Bodner's latest:

The official deal:
Matisse Thybulle
2023 2nd round pick (most favorable of CHA, ATL or BKN)
For
Jalen McDaniels
2024 2nd round pick (NYK)
2029 2nd round pick (POR)

Room under tax:
That gives them a little bit over $1.275 million in space under the luxury tax

Note on remaining under tax while making signings:
Players signed to minimum contracts from here on out will have their cap hit pro-rated over the remainder of the season. With a little over a third of the season left (59 out of 173 days), the Sixers will be able to sign buyout player(s) to minimum contracts and stay under the luxury tax threshold.

So theoretically you could add 2 buyout guys and remain under the tax. Not that I'd expect it.

This x 1000. It's all about being 1st in with the story, regardless how much schiit you have to throw up against the wall until something sticks.

Something about this McDaniels deal is giving me flashbacks to the margin swaps a few years ago for Glenn Robinson and Alec Burks. He's a UFA this summer, so likely a pure rental.

Sure McDaniels will help with secondary rim protection and more consistent scoring / rebounding in his bench minutes, but I can't see it ultimately mattering with what I expect to receive from Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid when we desperately need them.

Always found it weird that they’re now super famous when all they do is tell us something a couple minutes before we’d find it out anyway. Getting the scoop has always been a dumb thing in journalism but in the digital age it feels ridiculously irrelevant.

That said they don’t do any harm really. Probably better if they were just some unknown obsessive dudes who worked namelessly for some paper.

I think I'd rather Kevin Love before Nerlens at this point if both are bought out. Love has been good when given decent minutes this year and still has a nose for the ball on rebounds, can shoot from outside. I think it's a bit of a fools errand to try to fix the defense via the C position in the buyout market. Just get a versatile vet who has some juice left.

EDIT: Just saw that the Cavs are unlikely to buyout Love. Never mind.

Is Tony Bradley still playing?

Some interesting names seem to be on the buy-out radar. One of the better ones (always liked him): Terrence Ross

I understand, but be realistic. What add would you think was possible and could get us that scoring lift in play-off crunch time, and is also reliable on D than? Given what we could offer (Thybulle + a 2nd rounder + Kork)?

At least McDaniels can defend some minutes on Giannis or Tatum.

Nobody's a fan of ducking the tax. But it was a mandate I'm sure, and we pulled at least equal value I'd think. Bout as good as it was guna get.

I wouldn't pay luxury tax for this either.

15% of all existing second-round picks where traded this deadline.

I've always found it weird that any media leech is super famous and making seven and eight figure salaries. I mean, good for them for scamming their way into that gig, I suppose.

We're on here spending free time talking about dudes that play a game for a living and make a lot more money than these writers.

Alsi, these writers fuel a lot, if not most, discussion on this very forum.

I like forums like this, but this is precisely one of the issues with those writers. We value more getting that buzz than the quality of the "reporting"

The "i'm gonna get this exclusive" mentality fuels them, but the price for it is also carrying water from their sources. They end up putting out their agendas, we experienced this with Ben when Klutch constantly tried to shift the narrative.
