Not trading up for Trae, JJJ, or Luka. Passing on Mikal Bridges, SGA, Porter Jr. Yeeeesh, that's ugly.

Why would those teams trade down?

Such a tired old take that was never true. We didn't have Trae to trade for Luka. Luka didn't slip through our fingers any more than drafting LBJ did...oh but what about that game when we beat DAL and gave them Luka in the draft? WE HAVE ENOUGH REAL THINGS TO BE PISSED ABOUT...WE DON'T NEED IMAGINARY ONES. :banghead:

why did Atlanta trade down? Or Boston? Why does anyone trade down? you offer value to get it done. for that draft, yeah, not likely. but they passed on quite a few players that turned out so much better

Because they wanted trae and didn’t need the 3rd pick to get him. Magic had 6th pick. If you wanted JJJ, Trae or Luka what on earth does having the 6th pick do anything for them.

“Not trading up” is a horrible criticism. Like there was a chance they even could

This is like saying why don’t we trade up to the #1 pick every season. Because it is that easy

Criticism for taking Bamba in the first place is warranted at this point

No issues with this deal. At the absolute worst, we clear some money (I think? Can't remember the specifics of Bamba's contract) and pick up a second round pick for a guy who is our third-best center.

You are probably the only one who wants to keep Beverly, I can not stand Beverly and he is an ****, I hope Magic buys him out

It is a good deal. Getting at least some value for him than letting him walk for nothing in the offseason.

Does nobody here understand he was 100% on a Team Option for next year...he doesn't walk unless we release him. If we had a better use for cap space, we release him. If we want to trade him, some other team makes that decision...that's his value. I'm more than okay with moving on from Mo, in general, but this was a useless deal.

Do you REALLY think we’ll bring back our 3rd string center at 10million per year? Even if we pickup his option, He wont have any value next year because he’ll be UFA.

Yeah, we cut him in the most friendly way possible. I don't see any value for us unless it's addition by substraction.

Why did they even bother re-signing him last summer if this was all they were going to trade him for?

It was difficult to miss in that draft, but somehow they managed. They used consecutive #6 picks on Isaac and Bamba to start their tenure here, and get credit for having to start a rebuild in Year 4.

There is nothing as obvious as a draft pick 5 years later.

If I understand this 4-team trade, the Lakers effectively traded Thomas Bryant for Bamba.

That is not an upgrade for them.

But I guess Davon Reed from Denver sweetens the deal.

So what: the Lakers traded Bryant for expanded bench depth ???

If I count correctly, Orlando now owns 14 SRPs over the next 7 years.

I'm still confused by this deal and the "WHY??" in the title is appropriate.

Like, did we actually make a trade just to say we made a trade?

Less favorable of 2028 Washington/Lakers second-picks
2029 Lakers second-round pick

Which one magic go? And does it matter ? lol

I was massive Bamba hater (and proud of being hater from first month of watching him ) , but they literally traded him for nothing

Migh as well simply not re-sign him 6 months ago.

Collect some assets, somehow we also need to meet salary cap floor, so better to bet on someone that averaged 10/8 the year before.

i gave up on him like month and half into a season when he would enter game for 5 min and casually walk up and down . I have never seen player with less effort... Well that's a lie, i remember one guy playing for my soccer national team, who thought it's brilliant idea is to enter game and walk whole game, in his doubt

btw my sig "Bamba will suprise people"... he did. He suprised everybody, just in wrong ways

Bamba is a hard guy to defend - unless you compare him to a late srp 6 years away
