Spurs came to play. They have lost 10 straight and were sellers at the deadline.

I only marginally care where in the bottom three we fall, and a really clear bottom 4 has formed here with us, Houston, Charlotte, and San Antonio. It’s hard to see anyone breaking into that group with the time remaining.

We’ll see how this goes. We currently have the easiest remaining schedule in the ENTIRE LEAGUE. At this point that’s probably only a difference in a game or 2 from a mathematical standpoint, but that could be a major factor.

I think we’re the best of the bottom 4. Considering the gap to 5, it looks like we will be #4 for the lottery. That gets us similar odds as the top 3. With the flattened odds, a couple of teams could easily “win” the lottery. So i expect us to be either the top 2 or get dropped a couple of spots. Seems like enough wings that if we drop to 6 we should still be able to get someone that will help.

Think y'all need to be prepared for another disappointing season next season regardless of the Draft.

Even if we get Wemby we're a team that heavily features kids with less than 4 years of NBA experience at almost every position:

Duren - Wiseman
Wemby - Stewart
(Bojan) - Livers
Ivey - (Burks)
Cade - Hayes

That's a recipe for a losing season.

Top tier: BOS, CLE, MIA, MIL, PHI

Next tier is crowded af: Atlanta, Brooklyn, Chicago, Indiana, New York Orlando, Toronto, Washington

For us and Charlotte it's a long climb

We're for sure adding a FA starter as well IMO.... so you're looking at one of Hayes, Livers, or Wiseman not being in the rotation as well as Bagley not being the the 10 man rotation even if the only two new players next year are a top 5 lottery pick and one FA.

If we want to compete, Hayes would be out of the rotation and we run a 3-guard rotation with at least one of Ivey or Cade always on the court, and Burks as the third wheel.

If we want to tank, we play Hayes over Burks.

Good game for the tank last night vs Orlando. Exactly what you’d hope to see. Houston and San Antonio are going to be tough to out tank though. Big stretch coming up with games against Toronto and Charlotte.

I'm beginning to accept that we'll end up with the third worst record. Not ideal but pretty good.

Hoping we stay at 3 (unless we can move up to 1 or 2)

Good to see the Bobcats continue to win. Pistons may just end up with a worse record than them. No way are we catching Houston or San Antonio.

We've got the easiest schedule left in the league, but we're also locked into the bottom 4 with Orlando being at 25 wins and we're at just 15. Great place to be to be honest. We can enjoy any wins we get. It's essentially a coin flip no matter what to get a top 4 pick or not at this point and I don't see a different between picks 5/6/7 anyways. If we don't pick top 4 its pick 5/6/7 no matter what.

Charlotte winning their last 3 is certainly some hope that we do end up in the bottom 3 which gets us that extra 1.5% chance at VW.

VW would just fit in perfectly. (Fingers crossed)

And just like that we're dead last of the league.

Looks like we're shutting down Bojan for the remainder of the season, for his health, or the tank, or whatever.

Is there a max that we can drop in the lottery from where we finish?

Yeah..

Worst team - Can't drop lower than 5th
2nd worst team - Can't drop lower than 6th
3rd worst team - Can't drop lower than 7th
4th worst team - Can't drop lower than 8th

Though the odds of dropping to that lowest pick vary greatly. For example the worst team has a whopping 47.86% chance of being the 5th pick while the 4th worst team only has a 2.19% chance of dropping to 8th.

Only 16 more games 'til we can put these tank threads out to pasture.

Some will be sad, which is sad.

They will soon be replaced with “Draft [random name] or Trade Lottery Pick” content.

Very true. Drafts & trades are perpetual subjects, though. We won't be tanking anymore after this season. Some will feel a void next year.
