I don't think it is unnecessary drama. They just have to wait on the NBA to clear the trade. He can't be on an active roster until the League clears the deal.

Poeltl himself wants to play, but said it is not up to him, but the League.

Please bring NormGod back, so we can see 4 of the Bench Mob Fab 5, reunite as starters!

The legendary 2017-2018 Bench Mob was Pascal, Jakob, CJ, Delon and Fred. Those are the guys who got together in LA the summer before and practised together, developing an obvious chemistry.

Norm in 2017-2018 was wrestling with the GoDaddy curse, and didn't really play a role (except in case of injury). That's how deep that team was. They finished 2nd overall in the league that season. And then ... :nonono: ... and then :D

Literally just league office shenanigans. People freak out over stuff that they could Google and find the actual answer too lol

I should probably wait for Poeltl to actually play well before I gloat any more. :D

Getting Poetl for Birch was probably the best case scenario as well. I was meh on Trent for him but with Poetl adding 32 mpg on the roster we can finally see some of the insane mins go down a bit. And also hopefully won't get marked by any team with a center (most teams lol).

Walt, you wanted to trade GTJ and picks for Poeltl. You have no right to gloat after saying that. lol. I hate the protections on that pick but I am happy we didn't give up any rotation players for him. Our team will be deeper and more productive because of it. Poeltl will get his 20-25 minutes a night and I think we'll have Fred/GTJ/OG/Pascal/Scottie close out games.

Poeltl and OG together on defense is going to be really good. If Siakam's three point shot can bounce back to 36% on 5 3PA a game we're looking at a monstrous front court going forward. The issue revolves around where Barnes fits in, he can't space the floor or play off ball very well. It would make the most sense for him to come off the bench to avoid pissing off the personalities on our team but he's next in line to be the franchise.

I think Bobby and Masai have read the Hitchiker Guide to the Galaxy.

The answer is clearly 42. It is the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything.

Now they will have to go back to evaluating so they can figure out what the question was.

Fair enough. But I like to complain about it lol. And I firmly believe he'd be questionable regardless . "He's playing tonight, Jacko!" "He's bringing the lunch pail, Matty D!"

I was willing to trade non core players, but maybe Gary at a time when he wasn't playing well, and it would've been expiring for expiring. Also Suns wanted 2 FRPs at the time so it felt like the price would be high. It's great how it only cost us Khem, how the Spurs came down so much.

My main point all along was we needed a center to be adaptable and play big or small. Not have our forwards guarding big centers. There were several posters who said no we are fine with 6'9 guys and no big C. I'm glad Masai saw the need for a big as he said himself yesterday.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I am optimistic about Jakob, it's just that we are experiencing expectation hangover. With Jakob now added to the free agents this summer, we needed to see a certain player traded.

Regarding fun, the style of offense we have been playing is not fun. It competes with "let's go see how many people died on the battlefields in Ukraine today" kind of fun.

This video makes me more hopeful for an uptick in fun.

Has his defence fallen off a cliff or was he in a bad situation? Defensive rating of 117??

His individual D numbers are still good. The d rating of 117 is the team rating when he’s on the floor and is noisy as hell when you’re on a tanking team with **** teammates.

I agree, you were right about that. But the price you wanted to pay for Poeltl wouldn't have made us better, only worse. I always said I'd take Poeltl for cheap, I just didn't want to overpay for him. I don't like the light protections on that FRP we traded but I'm happy that we just added a good player in Poeltl without giving up any of our rotation players.

Interesting that the Celtics had interest in Poeltl as well. They must've wanted a bigger C. :D

Yeah, in the last 24 hours I've been going through the same stages of grief as when we drafted Scottie over Suggs. And now I'm out the other side. Past acceptance and into full-on embracing the new reality.

Of course we couldn't break up the gang like that. We've been through a lot with these guys, and there's an emotional aspect to sports fandom. Of course we had to at least see what the team would look like with a legit C. Now maybe our guys can cover the 3-point line without running themselves ragged. Now we can see how Siakam and Freddie perform when they only play 35 mpg

Yep, I have no choice but to give this team a chance even though I was hoping they'd be more active at the deadline. Masai met with every single player before the deadline. Players wanted changes to be made and it seems as though the one change they wanted to see happen the most was to get a bigger center. They got one.

They are 3-10 in close games and our bench has lost us a lot of games this year. Now you're adding a good player who can play 20-25 minutes a night without giving up any rotation players. That should make a difference.

Poeltl will make the game easier for Scottie as well.

I wonder if we use him offensively like we did Gasol / currently Barnes a bit.

Interesting question. He can only be a high-post facilitator if he is a threat to shoot. I have to be honest that I haven't seen much of Poeltl since we traded him. Has he added anything in that regard? I know he's very good at finishing around the rim and in the paint (he's like Thad but bigger) but without a 15 ft jumper I don't see him being used like that.

I think his screening is going to be huge (literally). He's one of the top bigs in terms of screen assists.
