Re: Waived players tracking thread
just absolutely a nonsensical move that does nothing to address the problems with this team.
between this and the dragic/drummond signings, AKME is showing concerning echos of garpax in terms of lazy “name” acquisitions that superficially fill a position of need without actual regard for how that player meshes with the roster they’ve constructed

I feel like this is a win win for us. Billy and Zach’s relationship seems horrible. We aren’t contenders but we also aren’t tanking. This will be horribly bad or amazingly good. Either way it’s entertaining. Gives me a reason to watch the rest of this season lol.
This given he even comes. We might lose to Miami in which case it doesn’t matter.
Exactly. The team as assembled is going nowhere and this is a low risk signing for the rest of the year. I'm not sure how many more demoralizing losses the team can handle before the bottom falls out. Westbrook could be a disaster but maybe he injects some energy and gets us playing better, or at least different.
Is adding Westbrook going to hurt the team chemistry? No it already sucks.
Is adding Westbrook going to take minutes away from developing young guys? No
I just don't see the harm...probably doesn't move the needle but there is a small chance it improves the team's ceiling.

Checks roster... Yep Bulls still only have 1 PG... who is 36 and averages 2.8 assists.... Check again, Yes... Westbrook plays PG... And averages 7.5 assists. I think that is addressing a problem on this team.

If we get Westbrook, at least the bulls will get some regular national coverage…on Shaqtin’ a Fool.

He could be inconsistent and help us remain inconsistent which would be consistent.
He could turn this !@#$ show into an even bigger !@#$ show...which I would dig as I've long been in strong favor of a stealth tank attempt to retain our pick.
I'm all in on Russ for the "what the heck's gonna happen???" entertainment alone.

Re: Waived players tracking thread
Westbrook is a poor fit, but the whole roster is a poorly constructed. At least we'd get to see someone on this team play hard night in and night out, even if it is bad play. The plug on this roster likely gets pulled in the off-season so why not at this point?

Re: Waived players tracking thread
Westbrook's problem is he was making 40M+ a year, not that he's a complete loser as a basketball player. He'd be a big upgrade to get for free.

Look, you guys are probably right and realistically it should lower his usage, which is a good thing and honestly he's only really a bad fit with DeMar IMO.
I've never been a Westbrook fan and I want him to help this team but I'm just not certain he will.
That being said I'd prefer Westbrook over Kyrie.

Yeah, of all the waived players, he is the most talented player available, so he'd be a get for sure. Now whether he'd fit or not, who knows, but at this point in our season, does it really matter? They might as well take a chance on the best player available, and just see how it goes.
What I don't want to see happens is that somehow we do find some success on the latter part of the season, and our front office stupidly gets the idea of bringing it back AGAIN, with this incoherent team once more. But I'm perfectly fine just adding the best talented players from the waivers list, and just seeing what sticks to the walls.
Why so serious?

Exactly, you can say anything about Russ but one thing he does well is play hard every night. Also plays with balls,he’s tough, another trait this team currently lacks.

Who would be waived? Bradley? would it put them in the luxury tax? Not a cap expert.

I’ve watched maybe like 1 1/2 games this year. I’d at least tune into a few games if they signed Westbrook to see what happens. At least it might be entertaining.

Will Coby give up his number? Or will Russ have to choose a new one?

Westbrook would be a great get for the Bulls. And if for some reason it doesn't work out, it's just a 28-game rental without giving up any assets.

I'd be good with it. I am pretty down on Ayo right now. Bumping him from the starting line-up might both light a fire under him and lower his resign cost (which should be nowhere near $10M).

Pretty sure they have the tax space to add a minimum player
