I have a theory that Nurse was sweating when he called that timeout in game 5 of the Finals and we went on to lose the game. Then in game 6 Fred caught fire from 3 and saved him from the prospect of losing the series.

Fred saved him and so he's beholden to him now.

It's like if a guy did time for you back in the day and then years later, when he gets out, you've turned your life around, but you keep trying to help him out even though he keeps breaking the law because you owe him. Everyone around tells you to let it go, but you just can't do it.

Realgm theories always a fun read lol

Sadly this is true. No clear direction this season. The team kind of has to win out at this point, which takes out of the top of the draft..but we still might lose, which should be good if we get a nice pick, but then if we get Wembanyama, what do we do with Poetle? Also, if we lose out, why would Trent, Poetle want to resign? Especially for Poetle going from Pop to Nurse...then we've got to try and be good next year so that we can get off the San Antonio pick...but even that's no guarantee...so we might give up the 7th pick next year when we need it...and we can't blow it up next year either in case we're not bad enough.

I also feel like Poetle stifles Koloko's development...at least with this coach.

All of this, plus the entire OG fiasco. He’s not re-signing at this point, so they’ve gotta address that too.

Dumpster fire. A literal dumpster fire.

We can only hope they lose out and come away with Victor or Scoot. Thats the only way.

Deal could have been done top 10 at least or lottery protected. Other offer weren't good.

Agree. It's no sure thing that we're good next year...and it prevents us from doing a proper teardown if we wanted to.

He’s finally coming around to the Nick Nurse problem this year.

Only took him about 50 games.

Should do a poll which Masai stan posting here is actually Will Lou.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

People need to stop with this fantasy bs about landing a top 3 pick... we did nothing at trade deadline to facilitate this. We did exact opposite by signing a treadmill C... to continue the play in mediocrity.... Masai and Bobhy FAILED miserably and this team will not benefit from this year's draft the way Orlando and Detroit and even Indiana is positioned.. They all will have a much better base of young talent than Raptors will... total F by Masai...

And then eventually, you warn him not to do something, but he does it anyways and he gets taken out. (Which will eventually happen to Fred) And that's the only way you can move on.

I'm kidding, because in reality, once Fred is gone, he'll find a new player to do the same thing with like Patrick McCaw.

I think McCaw must have passed the Nick Nurse blackmail material to Fred.

The right move is sending Fred to the bench. Get him his shots, let him cook against second unit guys, and we get some much needed scoring from the bench. He can create a smidge, so just give him a screener and let him do his thing. That’s the answer at least in the short term. Barnes needs to have the ball in his hands as much as possible, he’s the best creator they have and this team’s future literally hinges on his development. Moving Fred to the bench might also give you a fighting chance to reconcile things with OG, although you probably have to max him out to keep him at this point.

Fortunately, Nick will not do this and they’re going to continue to lose games.

If your son is less than 6 years old, you could probably sell him on a Fred Vanvleet jersey. Very cheap.

Fred is my 7 years old's favorite player.

The real reason FVV should have been dealt at the deadline - so the Raps wouldn’t be stuck with him when he picks up his option :banghead:

Also, I feel like I’ve said this about a 1000 times the last few years, but their offensive philosophy is garbage. It is clearly not expected that they move the ball and the system is designed to try and create isolation “mismatches” that often fail. On at least two occasions tonight they literally just moved 4 guys to the opposite corner and gave Pascal an iso situation. No one moved, just stood maybe 7-8 feet from one another on one side of the court. It’s literally the easiest thing to defend because none of the other four guys were a scoring threat, and their body language just screamed “this again.” I will forever love Nick Nurse for what he did in 2019, but man, when it’s not going well it’s ugly - and I think they’ve tuned him out.
