Lineups and sample affect stuff like this, so i have to see more of Mcdaniels before going onto this train.

I mean, look at the effect of Harrell on defense.

What stands out is that we lost a bunch of 2nd round picks for Dork Elvis to sign some terrible basketball players because he was feeling nostalgic.

Not even considering g the McDaniels stay pictured, he should be starting over PJ. PJ is a 15-20 mpg bench player at this stage of his career.

Edit: don’t even care about House tbh. Tucker is playing heavy minutes and isn’t doing any of the things he’s supposed to sans the game against Jokic. Could’ve had Boucher or Kyle Anderson with that money.

Someone here was complaining about us not utilizing the PnR enough in recent games. I might be giving Doc too much credit, but I actually think we're going to spam the **** out of the PnR in the playoffs and we don't want to show our hand that we're leaning completely on that offense. I also think we want to test out other plays and sets in the event someone bashes Embiid's orbital bone in and we need to pivot again.

Otherwise, it really makes no sense to go stretches without Harden/Embiid running it. They are completely unstoppable and if the defense collapses, we will have wide open shots.

Wish Tobias could get in sync with harden and or embiid or anyone for PnR action. He looks lost. Picks up his dribble then just wants to dump it back. Is this something he always does or am i just remembering just the recent games?

I think a lot of this comes from the Nets games of late. They switch every pick and roll.... Making it a Harden and Embiid isolation fest, and I think for the most part both guys have passed well out of the help that isolation draws, and scored well enough too... The other guys haven't been great moving or hitting shots.

I didn't even watch the Celtics game, but I assume a lot of that happened there too

I was convinced of that least year too and it didn’t happen (had to eat crow on the general board about it). Back to awkward isos when we needed buckets.

I’d like to have more faith in it now, but it feels like it would’ve already been implemented more now if that’s how we were going to play. It doesn’t make much sense not to practice and refine your main okay for months for some very small element of surprise advantage in the late spring (against teams that are going to have practiced and prepared for it anyway). Don’t want to just blame Doc like normal, and maybe there is some other reason, but I don’t think it’s happening. My guess is it’s just an occasional look we run every now and then.

We need the 2nd seed if we want to make the finals. Simple as that IMO. Can't see us beating both Milwaukee and then Boston on the road.

He’s always done it. Most of all he’s a rhythm/opportune scorer. He probably averages 10 or so dribbles per point when ball in hand.

With a bad matchup he’s basically the Ben Simmons of PF’s lol. They both have the same bad habit.

He just gets really indecisive when his shot isn't falling. Particularly since he's had to adjust his game to fit this current role of mostly being a catch and shoot guy.

Getting him some early sets to get him in rhythm might be a good idea.

The Harden-Maxey-McDaniels-Harris-Reed lineup looked pretty good yesterday (a very sustainable +98.6 net rating  ).

That feels like a good option for non-Embiid minutes in the playoffs. Reed and McDaniels provide the rebounding and rangey defense you need to go with that backcourt to not die on that end of the floor. Spacing isn't great, but it's not death either.

Hopefully BBall can stay locked in and playing within himself so he doesn't lose his spot in the meantime.

Who am I kidding? Doc's giving Dedmon that spot the second he practices with the team.

In this episode of Windy’s hoops collective

https://podcasts.apple.com/ph/podcast/brian-windhorst-the-hoop-collective/id293376147?i=1000599310232

They talked about the Nets. And there’s something that caught my attention.

They said Nets will struggle and mentioned something Doc River said, its just im not sure if Doc was directly talking about the Nets (probably post game?) but anyway..

37:30
“Doc rivers made an interesting point. Doc said It takes time for guys to learn how to play late in games. He went thru this when the clips went into reshuffling of players. You got a ton of talented young players, you dont have the those guys at the end of games who knows what they need to do and can hit those shots”

I really think he was intentionally trying to get our guys get used in close games. But now that we’ve made significant improvement, he’s more of trying to improve our bench starting with Maxey as the 6th man in order for us to play less close games.

McDaniels and Tobi instead of Thybulle and Niang, really helps with the dribble drive offense of the second unit.

I had the same impression and i was thinking of maybe playing Tobi more with the second unit and Niang playing more with the starting unit, but this is case to case depending on the situation. Whereas if we face a strong team, we will need more Tobi than Niang with the first unit

Yeah, and even moreso, I think Niang is going to have problems staying on the floor defensively in a series, but particularly if it's going to with that backcourt and no Embiid.

My other takeaway from that game was Tyrese and Embiid looked like they actually had pretty good chemistry in the PnR for once. Still needs work, but if Maxey can get better at those little pocket passes to Jo, the offense should be able to continue humming with Harden off the floor.

Well can he stop? I think we've gotten a full years worth of close games against middling teams.
