This is odd! Another wing after Ross when our much bigger needs would be a 3rd quality big (4/5) or a 3rd guard for insurance against Payne injury durability issues???

If Payne is healthy, the Suns are fine. Bring up Ish and roll with it. And the Ross signing tells me Payne will be fine. The playoffs are about an 8-9 man rotation depending on the game. One game you might start Okogie but against another team you start Craig.
Biz might get more run against certain teams than Jock.

Re: 2022-23 Season Discussion and Speculation 5 - The KD era begins
Ross was probably the best free agent available after Reggie Jackson, so good on us for grabbing him. Looking at the rest of the players who are or may become available, Love and Wall are the only players who would give us something different. Everyone else - Barton, Noel, Len, Young, Dragic, Rose, Ibaka, Forbes, Drummond - is either no better or worse than the player we'd have to let go to add him.
PG's the weak spot, but we'll probably just run Book or Durant (or Shamet) at PG if Payne's not healthy. Saben Lee has played well relative to expectations, too. The only guys who can give us something we don't have at PG are Westbrook and Pat Bev, who (and I won't argue about it) aren't coming here, and Wall and Dragic.
Dragic can still play and gives us experience, but no legs. He'd warm some hearts, but the most we could look for from him is one or two games where he provides late-game heroics: he wouldn't play more than a handful of games in the playoffs. Saben Lee's probably better overall, so I dont' see him here.
John Wall can still get to the rim and make things happen. But I wouldn't want to play him very much, because he'd be the weak spot in our offense due to his shooting. Not a great insurance policy either, with his injury history. Would he be happy playing 5 games for us in the playoffs, used just to mix it up if nothing else is working? My guess is no.

Boston is the most likely team that makes it pit of the east. So IF we make it, we should all be rooting against them doing anything good.
I'll be happy if any of other teams get him.

Three-time champion Danny Green is nearing an agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agent/attorney Raymond Brothers of @RocNationSports tells ESPN. The Cavs can offer Green significant opportunity to make an impact on a playoff team.

This whinging about how little depth we have is a little over the top. We had a net loss of one player and by sounds of it we are signing Ross so we aren't down a body.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind a Reggie Jackson and say a Nerlens Noel for depth. However, the sky isn't falling.
We are going all in, were going to get what we can. Assume we are going to get a PG it we were chasing one late on free agency.
We replaced dario who was barely playing with bazley too... I mean hes not going to get many minutes either but its a slight upgrade to me.
I think it kinda breaks down like:
KD > Mikal
Warren = Cam
Bazley = Dario
Ross > Jae (Wasnt playing)
We definitely got better.
We are in the grieving stage until KD plays a game with the Suns. Once he does im sure most people will come around and move on.
The issue with depth is that Mikal never missed a game and KD isn't know for health. We picked up Warren but he doesn't help there either, being just as injury prone as Cam. Bazley and Ross will help, but neither are a good substitute for any of our starters, who all now have major injury concerns, with Ayton being the most durable.

Milwaukee scares me more than Boston - especially with Crowder, who you know would play with the sharpest of edges against us. Bucks have played most of their season without their second-best player and are just a game behind the Celtics.
So go Celtics, I say.

I know we can’t just sign everyone, but defensively, Stanley Johnson makes a ton of sense.

A healthy Celtics worries me more. That's not only due to the obvious issues with the Js but more so due to Timelord. If you watched them, then you'll know that Marcus Smart was the best defender but Timelord was the most important. He was a nightmare when he was healthy. His switchabliity and help defense allowed them to stay home with Horford and allowed Smart to gamble more.
If Boston healthy, they'll beat the Bucks. Easily imo too. Now, that being said, I'd love another chance at Milwaukee and to be able to beat Jae would make it even more sweet.

He is playing good basketball lately.
Wainright's last five games (4W-1L):
9.4 points
3.4 boards
3.4 assists
1.4 steals
0.8 blocks
Shooting 33.3% from three (9/27) in 23 minutes per game.
He is playing a good amount of minutes and has been particularly good on defense.

He'd be my #1 target right now.

Heck yeah! He won't last long on the market, unless his defense has gone by the wayside...He's young, and shooting 45% from 3 this season? Yeah, it's a small sample size, but hey...why not? Looks better than most others, unless maybe Kevin Knox is a buyout candidate, but that would happen until this mess of a 4-team trade gets figured out with Gary Payton II...

Seems pretty similar to Johnson to me. I think the suns sign Ish

Can sign Johnson and if Ish out plays him or Bazley then still convert Ish and waive the odd man out.

Yeah, it wouldn't makes sense to waive Wainright just to sign Stanley Johnson. They are basically the same player.
