Happy about the signing as I prefer defense in that backup C role. I think Reed can post numbers vs bad teams, but the real competition would torch him with his fouling. Even though I am interested to see the McDaniels pairing, But Reeds mistakes make him so unreliable

Hope to see immediate impact with him and Jalen defensively with that group.

Morey sucks. If this is the best you can get on the buyout market at center, roll with Reed and sign a quality buyout wing instead. Morey's endless cycling of terrible over the hill centers is becoming ridiculous at this point. He can't help himself.

The problem was this summer when the money we could have given to Drummond was allocated to Danuel House. Drummond was a great get by Morey and Rivers last year and I always felt the Nets insistence on getting Drummond was more to screw the Sixers than to help the Nets. We could have fixed that this summer, but the myth of small ball Tucker at center lineups was still in the air then, before, you know, reality happened.

This will just make it hurt more when Doc stubbornly plays Trez in a big playoff series.

Drummond is also unplayable in the playoffs, he was killed by Boston and has been atrocious for the Bulls

Drumond was a very good fit for the way our team is constructed and an excellent fill in for Embiid. Having Drumond here would not eliminate using Reed or Tucker against teams that go small to counter that. He would be an excellent PNR partner with Harden, provides good connective passing and rebounding, which the Sixers badly lack. Drummond was right to come here, he isn't a fit everywhere or in every matchup, but he and the Sixers were an excellent pairing of player and system/roster. Superstars succeed wherever they go, most role players need to be on a team that has the right niche for them to succeed within.

Better than nothing. We need some more size out there if we're going up against guys like Brook Lopez, Jarrett Allen, or even Al Horford in the post-season.

I understand this move for Harrel insurance if he gets injured, but Dedmon is a bit worse than Harrell right now with -2.56 RPM, temper your expectations guys.

I still think Morey is looking to sign another player in the buyout market. Wouldn't be surprised if they eat a contract like Korkmaz just to open up another roster spot. I'm still not dismissing a Russel Westbrook potential signing?

Most guys won't come here for a wing position unless they see an obvious opening, point guards maybe. Westbrook if the only real impact guy out there (for better or worse), the rest are hoping they fill a niche for you. If they swallow a deal it will likely be House, Korkmaz has a good trade number for moves next year.

Skates wrote:Most of the guys in the buyout market were low minute players this year, which makes stats wonky generally and all the more since they are rarely getting regular time with a consistent and stable crew of teammates.

I like the fit of Reed with McDaniels, so much more athleticism and length with that pairing, especially with a very unathletic Niang sharing that front court. Dedmon would be fine for time s when you need more size, Harrell feasts on weaker teams offensively and as an energy guy generally. Again that would take a coach who makes adjustments and spots matchup issues and opportunities to really work.

Will there be another addition? If so, who and who gets chopped?

I don't think they can afford another addition without going back over the tax. But I might be wrong. Either way, we certainly shouldn't expect anything.

Another point in general: this team is not going to experiment. Glenn is the coach. Only name vets register with Glenn. Now I hope what is happening is Morey is letting Glenn dig his own grave. But it's equally feasible they are of the same mindset.
