Re: Waived players tracking thread
Russ, for all his flaws, at least brings a skillset that we don't have on the roster. I don't see the appeal of PatBev or DRose at all.
Beverley is another defense-first, PG-sized two guard that shoots 3s at low volume. He and Caruso are incredibly redundant, to say nothing of Ayo and Javonte (whenever he's healthy again).
And I don't know what a 34-year-old D Rose, who's been out of the Knicks' rotation all season, does better than Coby.

He is averaging 16/6/7 and we currently don't have a PG under 36 on the roster.
And we're going to lose another draft pick over it, too! Totally worth it!
How would we lose a draft pick?

No its not tampering because Billy didn't say he talked to someone nor did Russ say he talked to someone a 3rd party claimed they did.

So would anyone feel like the FO was making a mistake if we lose:
Vuc - if another team offers him 3/$60
Ayo - if another team offers him 3/$30
Coby - same as Ayo

https://www.forbes.com/sites/markdeeks/2022/11/30/why-tampering-in-the-nba-still-makes-good-business-sense/?sh=17061e233485
Tampering in an NBA context refers to the act of a team's representatives speaking to players on rival teams to attempt to lure them to join their team
Precedent for it happening to us in the recent past:
https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/chicago-bulls-miami-heat-lose-round-pick-tampering/story?id=81494238#:~:text=Stream%20on-,Chicago%20Bulls%2C%20Miami%20Heat%20to%20lose%20next%20second,round%20pick%20for%20tampering%20violations&text=The%20Chicago%20Bulls%20and%20Miami,offseason%2C%20the%20NBA%20announced%20Wednesday.
The Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat will each lose their next-available second-round pick for tampering violations related to the signings of Lonzo Ball and Kyle Lowry in the offseason, the NBA announced Wednesday.
If this rumor has any legs the NBA will investigate this. But by all means, please keep playing dumb.

I wouldn’t pay any of these contracts. And the mistake would have been not trading some or all of these guys at the deadline rather than taking all three into free agency.

That was not the standard the NBA set when they stripped us of a 2nd round pick for tampering with Lonzo. The NBA investigated us merely due to the fact that a reporter Tweeted about the signing moments after free agency opened. In other words, a 3rd party claimed the signing happened, yet an investigation and punishment happened anyway.

He'll kick their azzes into gear and be entertaining for the last 26 games. I'm really not even interested in winning at this point, I'm full on tank mode, **** these cats.

It totally depends on if we'd be getting Rose from the last few seasons. If it's that guy, he does everything better than Coby (aside from maybe defense). Better facilitator, ball-handler, shooter, creator, and significantly more consistent.

Obviously to pair Caruso with Beverley and try to capture the Zo + Caruso magic from last year.
Screw it. Just waive Bradley and Marko and sign both Russ and Bev. Then let Billy come up with a 5 guard lineup that you know he won't be able to resist.
For those who think this will work and will somehow result in us making the playoffs: we are not the same. I want those two here because we only have 26 games left to find the absolute floor of this team. It seems like that's what AK is looking for with his "evaluating" comment for him to do anything, so let's help him find it. The worst thing is for him to stand pat again this summer because we continue to win 2 games and lose the next 3.
The only team out of 30 to not make any moves. What a joke.
And with a little bit of luck, maybe we end up in the top 4. The flattened odds give higher chances for teams like ours to move up anyway. It only took me 1 try today to get Wemby on tankathon.com

That's the problem with all of the buyout PGs, none of them are any good. They used to be, but that doesn't help us now. Whether it's Russ, Wall, PatBev, whoever. The best of the bunch is Reggie Jackson, and he's merely decent at best.
We're not going to find our answer at PG in the buyout market. At best it will be an incremental improvement, at worst it'll be worse than what we're already getting out of the PG position, which is next to nothing.

I don't think he's exactly what we need, but he was a good emotional lift for Minnesota. We need that... although I could see him having a Tristan Thomas affect too.

That's where I'm at, I don't want to see the Bulls anywhere near the play offs, put me out of my mysery and MAYBE get a top 4 pick out of it. Regardless, a total failure of a season means pieces get moved finally
