Portland game

Post#1 » by Kilroy » Tue Feb 14, 2023 3:32 am

Hamm has no idea what he's doing with these rotations... Why are we daring one of their best shooters to shoot 3s?

AD should be obliterating this blazers team.

He kinda was for a while... But when their entire team couldn't miss from 3, it makes it tough...

Either they go cold or the end of the bench gets some burn tonight... Our perimeter D looked lost.

Darvin.. man, a lot of growing pains.

Drop coverage against this team?

10 guys in the rotation during the 1st quarter?

Don’t allow layups and pray they miss from 3 is Ham’s strategy?
Is it possible they miss Pat Bev’s in your face gritty defense?

Down 22 to a team that's missing 2 starters who we need to leapfrog in the standings. Why isn't Davis asserting himself in a game like this? Is the interior defense of Portland too scary? He's so frustrating. He shoots the contested fade aways more than getting in the paint and forcing teams to actually commit more than one person to defend him.

We should start either Beasley or Reeves at SG next to Dlo and Vanderbilt at PF for more defense and rebounding. Hachimura doesn't intimidate anyone on defense.

Who's we? A Timberwolves fan proposing to put Russell in a group for defense? ... you did notice that Lillard got his average with a few minutes left in the first half.... right?

AD 13 and 19 pts in these last two games without Lebron. Even when he isn’t hurt (rarely) guys a letdown now

Went to their game vs the Bulls last year, AD took about 10 17 ft fadeaway jumpers too instead of asserting himself. The difference was he made most lot of them and the similarities? Lebron ALSO missed the game that he could have played in. I really think that AD is fuming inside that James is sitting again while this team is trying to win games to keep in step with 6 other teams who are ahead of them.

Terrible showing after a nice GSW win.

Without LBJ, and with a lackadaisical AD, this team is hosed.

I wonder if they are really motivated and trying to get in to the playoffs

AD looked like he could get to the rim at will much of the game, but we were trading 2s for 3s and that isn't going to get it done...
I mean... 19 and 20 with 3 blocks isn't exactly timid.... But it really didn't move the needle a whole lot tonight...

I put this one on Hamm really having no game plan and not knowing how to use the guys he has now... Nobody played terrible other than Gabriel, and we still lost by a lot... My feeling was Hamm gave up too soon too... Thing about portland is they build huge leads and blow them a lot of times, so you have to keep grinding... Hamm had the 5th string in halfway through the 4th...

All that aside, this team pretty much pisses me off at this point... Every time (over the last 3 seasons) I think there might be a reason for optimism and start watching again, they start having games like this...

Guess we'll have to see what it looks like with Bamba and LeBron back...

Props to Schroder though... He's a rare stabilizing force this season... After not being a fan for a few years now, I find myself relieved when he's on the court...

D'Lo has been pretty meh so far though...

Schroder will score 27 one game then 2 pts the next. Hachimura will also show up every 3-4 games and Lebron after his personal accomplishment?banghead: Twolves beat Dallas, Pelican won without Zion and CJ, Utah won again after giving up 2 more good players.

127 points conceded is not good enough. 116 points scored is enough to win any game where defense is prioritized.

What’s up, Darvin?

They got rid of weak defenders like Melo, Ellington and let Monk walk and their defense still sucks... with Ham as coach....
Is it possible Ham is also so pissed that Lebron have missed another game. Last time James played was 6 days ago, all of a sudden the soreness is excruciating after he broke the record? Then felt slightly better to fly to Arizona to watch the Superbowl, then can't play a very important game again? :banghead:
Is it possible too that they missed the gritty defense of Pat Bev?
