A couple of interesting comments:

“They’ve got some talent over here. T.J. Warren, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton play well off each other.”

Kevin Durant after Warriors NYE win over Suns in 2018-19 season.

Now he's on the same team with those three in Phoenix.

Kobe Bryant on the toughest player he had to guard:

“Kevin Durant, that was the one that I retired without really being able to figure out how I can stop him… I’m trying to count the seconds that he takes to make his moves. When does he make them, at what times of the game. I couldn’t really figure out that rhythm…”

Nets fan here: I wanted to grade the trade, it is definitely an A for you guys and a risk worth taking since Booker is in his prime and the Suns are serious about winning....... While the trade grade is an A, it is not a perfect world; KD is 34 going on 35 and Phoenix has its share of injury problems. Suns cannot afford to lose a core player as Johnson and Bridges provided so much depth to the Suns roster. The Suns have the potential to achieve what the historic offense of 20-21 Nets DID NOT achieve. Will KD finally prove to the world he can win without Steph Curry? Maybe, but only time and health will tell.

It was great. KD is a class act guy.

It was unreal for a press conference, like a rock concert.

I thought adding fans was a big too much imo. I also wish they asked Mat Ishbia more questions about the trade. Pretty weird to have him there and the only question was about Michigan State.

I imagine he'll be there to be introduced, despite not playing. They've done it in the past.
I also don't think the team stays in Phoenix to work. Not all week at least. Maybe they come back 2-3 days early. The break is important for them.

Don't most players who aren't involved in the ASW or aren't physically at the ASG usually take this time off to go on a short vacation?

I know I would...

That was....kinda short for such an arena-level event

This isn't a shot at you, but I love all this talk about injury problems and YET people bringing it up fail to acknowledge all the times CamJo has been hurt in his 3.5 years here. I mean dude just missed 36 games in '22-'23 and 13 games right before the start of the '21-'22 playoffs. He's gonna be 27 in March and at his age how long before having part of his meniscus removed catches up to him? I say this as one of the biggest CamJo fans there is and staunchly defended when we drafted him.

Bridges is the durable one - almost freakishly so, but honestly how long can that ACTUALLY last where he doesn't miss any games in a season?

Health is always gonna be an issue for any team and getting to the Finals hinges a lot on being lucky enough to have health on your side. Having CP3, KD and Book as the stars comes with some inherent health risks which no one can deny so we'll need to manage that well. But I don't think anyone except for in the minds of some fans are thinking about KD's title with Curry/Warriors. Like it's literally not a factor.

That was…an interesting event. You could tell Kevin was excited by the love the fans showed but was trying to play it cool. The mic did not work for the first few minutes and the national reporters asked DUMB questions.

It was fun being there, but honestly, it could have been planned better. I did like KD’s answers to most all the questions. Felt a little strange to make this open to fans, but I think Ishbia wants to make the fan experience better. Maybe this is part of it. Just odd to be able to have fan reactions during questions and answers.

I watched it from Aussie-land so obviously didn't get the fan/crowd vibes but did you feel it was a bit overdone (adding fans, in the big stadium) for like a 20min event?

They do, but a few are back or brand new to the valley so I imagine they stick around, and others are still rehabbing from injuries. Phoenix is a nice place to be in February. I could see a few players maybe going on vacation especially if they planned it a while back, but I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few of them stick around, hang out and get some practice time/rehab work in.

Maybe not long, but it's been like 12 years, so maybe a long time. Even the junior high game he missed, he wasn't injured..the coach didn't play him or something.

yeah just kinda thought if you've been in the league for the few years already the whole rahrah of the ASW is probably not all that exciting (unless it's in a city you're tied to for example). If I wasn't supporting a team mate or something, I'd 100% go somewhere far from all the noise or as you said, keep working my way back from an injury/working on my game.

Maybe being an introvert myself, it would feel like a one and done kinda event for me.

Any interest in bringing back this fan favorite for 3rd guard rotation and additional insurance? Would be so cool if things came full circle and he returned home to finish his career winning a championship with us!

Will always be a fan of Dragic but I really don't know how much he has left in the tank. He was actually solid in the playoffs for the Nets last season and was the #3 scorer in 2 of their 4 games but I feel like Love might have more left in the tank than he does.

I'm all for the idea of bringing him back, winning a title and sailing off into the sunset with the team he was drafted by but we have 1 spot left and I don't want to sign someone for nostalgia reasons

Oh yeah, I wasn't saying they would go to the ASG location and activities. I just meant i wouldn't be surprised if they stuck around. I know some go on vacation sometimes but I doubt someone like Book planned one during all star week. Maybe Ayton goes somewhere with his family. Ross and KD an TJ probably moving and settling in. Probably many of the others are hanging out with them helping them settle in...maybe getting together one last time for a goodbye party with Cam and Bridges as they come back to pack up their stuff and Cam gets his dog he apparently misses, etc.

Return to Phoenix Suns
