Report: Kawhi, Paul George to meet with Westbrook about joining Clippers

Russell Westbrook is reportedly scheduled to meet with Clippers’ Paul George and Kawhi Leonard ahead of the NBA’s playoff eligibility waiver deadline on March 1, according to The Athletic’s Law Murray.

(Paul George said) “But it would definitely improve our team if we had that traditional point guard to kind of get us in things and make the game easy. So hopefully Russell [Westbrook] sees this and we figure something out.”

The Clippers also supposedly have interest in former Clipper Pat Beverley.

I would take Beverley over Westbrook if I'm trying to win, but if I want maximize publicity, I take Russ.

It all sounds so very familiar...I kind of hope it happens.

One day GMs will stop letting their players be GMs. Leonard just doesn't seem to undertsand the impact of his demands on his team, and not in a good way.

I think WB will be better on the Clippers. They've got a bunch of shooting and russ could just run the 2nd unit.

They can get him for minimum. It's a low-risk, high reward move especially for a team who doesn't have a PG. If Russ is detrimental to the team and their locker room, they can just cut him the next day not a big deal.

Personally I think he should sign with the Wizards given he has good playing chemistry with Beal or Chicago with Donovan. He can start on both those teams with a large role on two teams with low expectations so he can use the rest of the season to rebuild his value.

C'mon man. This should go without saying but Russ is and always has been better than Beverley. Ones a hall of famer and ones an above average defensive journeyman. The Lakers are an absolute dumpster fire. Let's see how he does somewhere else before we take it that far. I think he's a great fit or the Clippers and Wizards.

Signing in Chicago would make zero sense. At this point Russ wants to win a championship and the Bulls might not even make the play-in. I think he'd rather take a lesser role on a contender instead of going to a bad team solely based on getting the most minutes. He's already accomplished enough individual stats. We shall see.

You're right he makes zero sense for Chicago but you're wrong on him rather taking a lesser role, dude clearly still believes he's a star.

Imo this will only work if he comes off the bench competing with Bones for the backup PG spot. I don't want him in the starting lineup since we have Zu who is not a stretch and Morris who is a terrible defender and rebounder.

I know it's not realistic to have him compete with a second year player but this can easily blow up in their face especially with how nice they have looked the last 2 games.

If he's not willing to play that role I'd rather have Pat Bev back. His 3 has come back and he can be a pest to other guards not named Luka.

It depends if he wants a larger role to rebuild his value before free agency or if he wants to permanently enter the vet minimum ring chaser stage of his career.

He can run first unit* both George and Leonard are elite catch and shoot players and Zu is pretty good roller, type which Westbrook loves to play with. If no open looks both George and Leonard are capable of isolating for 2ndary plays.

No, they won’t “just cut him or just sit him”, that’s the thing. Lue is going to play him to afault. We both know that.

Will the Clippers sign Westbrook?
