What do people think about Juan Toscano-Anderson? I heard a commentator say that he has defensive potential. Every time I checked in on the Jazz-Grizz game last night, he was really hustling. This was a good performance in his first game with the Jazz, though I wouldn't be totally shocked if it turns out to be his best game. The 10 rebs were a season high for him.

I'm not disillusioned enough to think he'll be great, but I do think he fills a hole in the team's roster, of a 6'6'+ wing/forward with defensive potential and isn't a terrible 3 point shooter (career 34.8%). I know he's a little smaller than Gay, but I don't see any reason to not give all Rudy's minutes to JTA, and see how things go. He's not under contract past this year and is already 29, but why not see if he can be a role player worth giving 1-2 year deal?

Even moreso, D.Jones, who is under contact next year (27 yrs old), should get all the time on the floor the Dok wastes, IMO. (I admit Dok was tolerable vs Toronto, which is about the best we can expect from him.)

Both guys have been around a while, so they probably are very low ceiling, but at this point, I say rotate giving everyone (including Potter & Juzang) a shot at real minutes for at least a few games in a row, and see how things shake out.

On a slightly different subject, I also think Agbaji should be 25+ mpg the rest of the way. Let's really see what we've got in this young, promising rookie.

I don't think the word 'potential' applies to 29 year old players. He is what he is at this point.

Always thought JTA played small ball C for the Dubs but he looks effective as a 3/4 as well last time against the Grizz. Seems should be a good fit moving forward as he knows his role, getting Vando's PT

Imo, there is something really admirable (and unusual) for an American born player to work his way in to the NBA at 26 years old and stick for three seasons. Maybe we might get some of the early career, Royce O'neale vibe from him, where he brings an intensity to every play as if it his last play.

Basketball reference lists him as a small forward and shooting guard.

I was disappointed at just getting a first round protected pick for Conley, Vando and Beasley, but maybe one these guys we got back can emerge as a useful bench player. Damian Jones, who holds a player option for next season, is likely to get the more serious tryout, but JTA had a very good initial showing too.

Vando and Beasley started in the last Laker game --- a Laker 120-102 win over the not so great Pelicans. Vando is a better fit starting in the frontcourt with AD and Lebron than he is starting in frontcourt with Kessler and Markkanen. Conley laid an egg in his last game with the Wolves, scoring zero points in a loss to the Wizards, but he still had 6 assists and 0 tovs. It's another sign of age-related decline imo, where bad games start to appear more frequently, mixed in with the good games. Conley played great in the Wolve's previous game, a 124-121 win over Dallas.

It's only a small sample, but the Wolves just strung together three impressive wins on the road against the Clippers, Lakers and Kings. An increasing number of Wolves' fans are posting that they think the Wolves are turning a corner for the better. If so, Conley's veteran leadership is probably a big factor, while NAW is emerging as a solid contributor off the bench.

Just goes to show how important Conley has been since he arrived. Going all the back to the rubble, the Jazz missed his leadership when he was away for the birth of his child then had to be isolated from the team until he cleared protocols. he and DM's injuries that ear also paid a price. Because of that, I think that was the year the Jazz missed their championship opportunity. The complete meltdown against the Nuggets set the stage for the Clippers and Mavs weak play. The series against the Nuggets showed the weaknesses of the team, and allowed depurate coaching to find a winning combination. Unfortunately, Conley was part of that, but he made up for it in the following two years, with this year really being where his leadership and winning persona came to its height as a Jazzman.
