I wonder what the players would think if they were made to watch the AS game they just played.

Maybe they’re too close to it down on the floor to see how much of a clown show it was. Maybe having to watch from the perspective of a fan would click something?

Not that I care and actually preferred Jrue not playing, but how the hell does a team down one starter (Giannis) only get a teammate 9 minutes and another 35? Let who actually decides this? Did Joe go rogue and be like I'm getting his guy the MVP, did the players kind of discuss amongst themselves who should play? Coaches (bud) ask for limited minutes of their players?

I think we understate how much the players themselves want to play. Its possible SGA said he didn't really care to play much. Last year, LaMelo said he wanted to play a lot and he did play quite a bit.

Worst all around effort that I can remember. Would it have been that hard to at least pretend to care on game point?

I think Lebron and Steph really drove a lot of the competitiveness we saw during the last couple of all star games.

Without either of them on the floor during that last quarter there wasn’t really anyone on either team that was going to push their team to really try to win it.

I'm pretty sure iggymcfrack is now saying "Worst all around effort that I can remember" this year because Curry is not apart of it. This year felt like last year just replace Tatum with Curry.

What does this mean? You think I don't like Tatum or something? I love Tatum. I bet the Celtics to win the East last year and rooted for them all season. If everyone was playing like Tatum, it would have been great. The problem was that even in the 4th quarter, most of the guys were making little to no effort to go out and contest shots. Also, was there even really a big highlight play after the first quarter? LeBron and Tatum battling with alley oops to themselves and Dame and Tatum getting hot in the 3rd were really the only entertaining parts of the whole game. The 2nd and 4th quarters were dismal. It just felt so anticlimactic watching Team Giannis trying to end it on a 40 footer just to get a challenge since the other team wouldn't even contest a shot on game point once they got within 6.

Dont' watch the NBA ALlstar game anyone at all. Yesterday I kept remembering it was on but then I thought it'd be better to stick ice picks in my eyeballs instead. The current game of basketball is an abomination generally, and the Allstar game is that on ultimate steroids. It is unbashedly XBOX basketball. And while I understand that appeals to the XBOX generation it's a sorry product. THey've copied what little I've seen of XBOX basketball to the **** T. Again fine for the short attention span stupid basketball fan with basketball IQ of 10, but it makes for some real sorry basketball fundamentals.

You can't even root for your conference anymore. So somebody tell me what's the attraction now? To root for your individual guy to score points? What attracts you to this Allstar game. I'm serious. Explain it to me hopefully in a way I can understand. Or have I nailed it already? Rooting for your guy period. Nothing else, nothing more. And watching an XBOX game with real players.

And somebody mentioned it upthread. WTF and WTF was Tatum logging 35 mins??? Helps when you've got the coach and are running for worthless MVP's. Worthless to the Celtics, but not worthless to Tatum and his agent.

So, lets see it. What in the **** attracts you to this bull game? Lets see it. Stand up and elucidate, educate and elaborate. Please. Go.

were with you bro.... i would say the vast majority hate it, but lebron gets what lebron wants. just look at lebron out there, giannis looks like he is being forced to participate while lebron is looking like he is at his birthday party....all smiles and dum jokes... the owners need to force a lockout and tell silver to cut the bs... eliminate this stupid all star game and dum play in tourney, lets go back to the 90s old school basketball when even casual fans tuned in.... the product is hurting and needs change. go back to the basics

I've watched it infrequently in the past. But now it's so bad, it's like a B movie that you laugh at. Not quite at it's so bad it's good territory yet.

Weird how they are competitive at drew league, rico hines workouts, pro-ams and their summer pickup games but not an all-star game.

The “Worst All Star Game of All Time”.

^ I’ve been seeing a lot of that on social media.

Also Kobe is probably rolling over in his grave considering the MVP trophy is named after him. While everybody just slowly walks up and down the court most of the time like they don’t want to be there.

i think as fans you have 3 options:

1. watch it and take it for what it is
2. don't watch it at all and catch replays/highlights if there's anything worthwhile
3. watch it and constantly complain about it

3 seems like the worst option

I watched part of the celebrity game - was fine for what it is.
I watched the rising stars game(s) - found that enjoyable
I missed the early portion of saturday night. Tuned into the dunk contest mid-way and was bored by the two dunks I saw - figured i'd catch the highlights
Tuned in mid-way through the all-star game and saw 4 straight possessions of pull-up - I'll call them "Dame" - 3's and shut that **** off.

I'm sure part of it is just growing out of all-star weekend but man, the product has definitely gotten worse.

I always watch all star weekend with my wife. Blake Griffin jumping over the Kia to win the dunk contest was the start of the downfall. We usually enjoy it even though the gimmicks have gotten increasingly cringeworthy. The only highlights this time were Mac McClung, who I had been showing my wife his high school videos for years, and the back and forth between Tatum and Brown.

Dwight Howard getting a 50 on a dunk where his hands doesn't even touch the rim despite being 6"10" is where it jumped the shark for me. All-Star Game is for the younger NBA fans not the adults.
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player
