This means Dragic getting cut? We have no roster spot now

Haslem needs to take a buyout

This is the first time that Haslem being on the roster has bothered me because of the situation in general. Nevertheless, even if he did take a buyout, or get waived...which he won't....but let's say he did. Wouldn't signing Dragic put is over the tax threshold? They aren't going to want to pay taxes for Dragic.

I believe we were under the tax by like 4.8 million before Love. Love signed for 3.1 million. That leaves over a million before the tax. Dragic would come in at a prorated vet minimum… which I would imagine stays under that amount. So I think it is financially possible, just not roster spot possible at the moment.

Edit: forgot about Zeller… so that likely scratches that.

Haslem needs to go but if we wanted to bring someone else in it would be Yurt getting cut I bet. If this was an option we should’ve just went after Pat Bev though

Nice cap sheet breakdown

Reposting this in regards to signing of Dragic. We have 1.2 million in space left over. That's plenty to sign another vet minimum. Cody Zeller vet minimum was only 517K prorated. We just have to clear a roster spot. Yurtseven, Highsmith, or Haslem

If Haslem was really down for the cause he would just allow for us to release him for his full pay to open up the roster spot to bring on Gogi if the opportunity presented itself. I'll never forget Beno's sacrifice. If the team feels that Omer Yurtseven has zero chance to contribute this year coming off the ankle surgery even if cleared to workout then it's understandable to just release him but they may want to retain any rights they may have on him with his free agency coming up.

hmm...not that it matters, but using your Bi-annual exception puts you under a hard cap for the season. We also now cannot use the Bi-annual exception to sign a player next season.

With the reports of Lowry expected to be ready sooner than expected there are simply no minutes for Dragic here, which would surely be a priority for him. A reunion this year would be nothing more than a feel good idea.

My personal opinion is you let Haywood Highsmith go. Now that Martin is presumably heading to the bench he takes over the backup 3 and small ball 4 role. Then you have Duncan as the third string backup to the 2/3 spot. Jovic is the third string 4/5 and last but not least we have Jamal Cain who I actually think is better then Haywood Highsmith by a mile who's parked in our two way with plenty of games left under that deal in case we need him to fill in at any point of the 20 remaining games.

You may be right but it's also not a bad idea to retain an insurance policy for the stretch run until Lowry is officially back or in the event the injury prone Oladipo gets banged up again.

Looking over depth charts and as things currently stand it looks like Dragic will be third on the depth chart in many landing spots around the NBA if picked up. Quite possibly we offer the most playing time in the short term with injury issues to Lowry and Oladipo. At worst when everyone is healthy he gives us an emergency veteran presence at the end of the bench. With the playoff grind and his experience I see him being a very valuable insurance pickup.

Would be more than happy to bring Gogi in. He still has some game in the tank. Plus he’s already super familiar with the team.

Jimmy and Gogi together again just feels right.
