Here are write-ups from both teams under the Top 100 teams project from around 2 years back (credits to Sansterre) and two videos from historian/content creator Clayton Crowley:

I voted 2017 Warriors, though I think the 1986 Celtics have a case in their own right. Would love to hear counter-arguments for those who may have them.

'17 Warriors were slightly better relative to their own era, better MOV during the RS, nobody came as close to them as the Rockets did to the Celtics (though it wasn't all that close). Might be two of my top 5s.

Head to head, obviously the team 3 decades ahead would trounce the older team.
I bought a boat.

Warriors were clearly better relative to their era.

And they'd trounce the 86 Celtics in a series.

As a Bulls fan, where would you rank the Best Bulls teams relative to these two? Which year(s) would you specifically pick (just asking out of personal intrigue)

I personally think the '92 Bulls team is the best Bulls team ever. It has a near peak MJ, younger Scottie, Horace Grant(who is better than Rodman from 96-98) and fairly more athletic than the 2nd 3-peat team. Paxson is also better than Kerr.

I'd put them top 5. I think it's a pick-em vs the 86 Celtics. They don't match up great in the front-court, but they're a far superior team athletically and I think they could run the Celtics out of the gym a few games.

I think the 2017 Warriors are the greatest team of all-time.

Very interesting, thank you for your intel!

I think that's a fair point for that specific matchup, and for my personal 2 cents the 91/92 Bulls, 72 Lakers, 71 Bucks, 17 Warriors, 86 Celtics strike me as the five best teams - of course excluding duplicates across franchise.
