2015 Iguodala vs 2015-2019 Klay

Post#1 » by rand » Tue Feb 21, 2023 8:22 am

If you knew you already had an offensive player the caliber of a Steph Curry and a defensive player the caliber of a Draymond, who would you choose for your team in 2023: 2015 Andre Iguodala or an average of 2015-2019 Klay Thompson?

So in this scenario it's not actually Curry and Green right? Just two players who have their offensive and defensive impacts respectively?

Because Draymond Green's and Iggy both do not have the best shooting combined. But if it's a traditional 7 foot center inside then that is quite different.

Correct, not actually Curry and Green, just two players with that level of impact.

Note that this does not assume the Curry and Green substitutes are bad at offense/defense or play the same positions. The offensive player could be a center like Jokic. The defensive player could be a player like post 2009 KG who brings significant offensive value along with elite defense. Those properties are all unknown and are assumed to be random.

Klay is probably the better fit next to most players on an offensive level with Steph, who tend to be more ball dominant

Klay for me fairly easily generally factoring in potential load, but see the argument that on a per possession basis with Steph specifically also on the floor that Iggy is more valuable to the Warriors and probably lean that way myself.

2015 iggy has a credible argument as being more valuable per possessoin than steph during the finals.
