Brown vs Tatum was fun tho especially with Brown hitting him with the “too small” celebration lol

I think even Simmons would have managed 10 points in that game

1v1 tournament that happens once every 5 years to make it a true marquee event like the World Cup. Winner gets the title of Black Mamba to make it a mantle like the Black Panther that gets passed down the generations.

I don't think the all-star game is competitive or fun to watch, but I would also dislike if it were make into a high stakes competitive game where dudes are getting hurt, etc. Just imagine Embiid getting injured trying for a chase down block in the ASG...

Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards

Just scrap the whole weekend. Give the players some rest and make the fans miss the event. No one is going to miss it at the moment.

Ratings for the AllStar game were down 24% from last year.

NBA Finals ratings have been record lows in the last 3 years.

Does the NBA suck now?

I think the fringe fans who are watching less are tiring of player empowerment. Personally, I skew to the players even if it's to the detriment of the Sixers as I hardly find any ownership group deserving of the slightest empathy.

That said, I can understand why some fans are pissed they are losing their star players to big markets and forever doomed to treadmill status. If the team you root for has no realistic path to a championship (even if you draft extremely well) in the long run it can seem pointless.

I mean, look at the Warriors. They had to draft perfectly but if they didn't luck into Steph Curry's early injury history that led him to sign a historically underpaid contract at the start of the dynasty their history could be far far different. It will take that sort of luck or an international star like Giannis, Embiid, or Doncic who have at least some more loyalty than American born players who'll give a little more latitude and time irrespective of market to build something that can rise to level of contender.

The Thunder have SGA, a bunch of high end role players on rookie contracts and envious draft capital and I'll be shocked if they sniff a title in the next 10 years. Same goes for the Jazz and Memphis and New Orleans IMO.

More and more I think we are at the point that about 20 franchises exist solely to make money and an occasional playoff series, not really honestly compete. The NBA doesn't have a healthy ecosystem.

I enjoy watching underdogs play against heavy favorites.

The only way you can fix the ASG is to invite players from other league, locally or internationally to play against the NBA allstars.

If NBA is insecure of creating a business competitor, then how about top amateur players. Or a non-allstar player (someone who’s bitter of not making it) selecting his 10 players to go up against the 10 allstar players.

All 3 US major sports have had a problem for years. They are simply put unwatchable compared to other sports from broadcasting to the stop and start nature to all of them. Without the US tag association it’s a bit of a laughing stock honestly.

True. The biggest change I’d make to the NBA game is fewer timeouts & replays. For replays in all sports, officials should get to replay it once in real time & once in slow mo from each camera angle. After that they need to just make a call and keep the game moving.

Television is a dying business in terms of advertising and numbers, majority of the viewership is skewed over 50 years, that's why the NBA also is trying to refocus using League pass and NBA.com

the league needs to actually showcase ALL the teams.

They have the same 8 teams on every national game spot....even when said teams aren't any good. The old guard are on their way out and none of the new guard has risen to that level. When Bron and Curry are out who will lead the way? Giannis might but IDK he comes off a fake and is too freakish to be the headliner. Jokic and Luka don't have the personality. Ja is a moron. Zion is always hurt. So in place of having THE GUY they need to make it so every team is represented...and they have not done that

I'm kinda interested to see Westbrook on a revenge tour with the LAC. I'm expecting them to be a problem come playoff time.

Do you mean make every team have equal exposure for national TV games?

Why? He's super inefficient, and teams are gonna sag off him and double PG/Kawhi in the playoffs like they have done since Durant stopped playing with him.

Still on his prime he played with the Rockets and was still inefficient. Unless he's limited and used on a super specific role, i don't think he's a positive

Tatum is just shooting 40% from mid range, 35% on ISO and 38% on PnR

The All-Star game is absolute trash now. The players have made it into a mockery of the sport.

No idea why anyone would watch.

All-star games have been a precursor of how the game is going to be played in the future.

Eventually players will score 50pts more frequent than how it is right now. While there will be less players playing defense.
