Correction Embiid has been our best 2 way player and it’s not even close.

They closed with

Maxey
Harden
Harris
Niang
Embiid

Makes sense

I’d like to see that unit with McDaniels instead of Harris imo.

Harris sucks at attacking close outs. He’s in a spot where his skill set isn’t needed. Better off having a Roco type instead.

Have 2 shooters on the wings, Harden/Maxey as the perimeter scorer, Embiid on the inside (much prefer face up on the elbow/pnr spam as opposed to high 3pt iso that’s a sh*t play) and McDaniels with his athleticism attacking the rim.

Specifically said 2nd best.... #1 is obvious.

I actually noticed in the Nets game that ironically enough oftentimes when he's playing with Harden and Joel, Tyrese turns down a lot of closeout situations. There are a couple of times where he just tried to do a secondary entry pass to Jo and there were clear lanes for his floater. Where a few other times in similar situations Tobias even with his off shooting night attacked and led to something better than a re entry to Joel 20ft away from the basket.

Is Tyrese way more than capable of being better at that than damn near anyone, yet alone Tobi? Definitely? Is he? I'm not sure.

However on a day like the Nets game went Tobias was just killing you overall... I'm more than supportive of trying Jalen. Though to be clear, I think his overall best option to start is over Tucker, who refuses to shoot, even though he can.

It’s more so I don’t want the ball in Harris’s hand in shot clock crunch mins. Not when he’ll routinely dribble the air out of it then kick it out and nothing effective eventuates.

With Tucker/Niang on either side you’ll always have an outlet on the wings.

Tucker doesn’t shoot it a lot but still puts up high %’s.

I think with Maxey it’s a pecking order issue. Always thought the more we steer away from Embiid hero ball the better we’ll be in the end.

It’s situational but I like that lineup if we are down a bucket or two with a minute and change on the clock as opposed to being up then I’d much prefer Melton as the defensive stopper.

I do think McDaniels athleticism and height and not needing the ball in hand will be beneficial for either setup imo.

He's looked good so far. I don't know that I see future starter, but he seems like a quality bench wing that provides a lot of what this team is missing in terms of athleticism and hustle, while also not seeming to have any backbreaking weaknesses in his game. I guess we'll see how much teams respect the jumper in the playoffs with how they guard him.

He's going to need to continue to work on his shooting. The more he improves in that area, the better he's going to be. Said the same thing about Thybulle. The difference is Thybulle's shot has never looked right whereas McDaniels has the look of potential shooter when he lets it fly.

I hope dude doesn't cost too much to re-sign. Would really like to have him locked up on a 3/4 year sub MLE deal.

How much a season do you think would be reasonable?
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Have you seen guys that get the MLE lately? The MLE is his floor and I doubt that will be enough given that age is favorable for getting his prime years on the next contract.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

This guy is not a good basketball player. He has all the physical tools but it just doesn't add up. He is no Jarrod Vanderbilt that's for sure.

What made you think he is a scorer? lol. He's still learning where to be on the floor and the bench is struggling overall.

Jalen is slightly longer , more athletic and has better shooting mechanics than Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt is awesome but Jalen is a good get to have on our team.

A 4-36 deal is a lot of guaranteed money for Jalen while only representing about 6% of the Sixers cap, even less of their payroll seeing as how the team projects to be deep into the tax next year. McDaniels also becomes a good potential filler for trade purposes at that number.

I mean, what did you guys expect? he has a -2.86 RPM, he is a very mediocre player. there are worse players out there, sure, but he doesn't move the needle either.

Hezonja also had very good shooting mechanics, the ball just didn't go in lol. At some point you need to make shots.

I didn’t want to be a downer after the trade but I distinctly remember this situation and how it hurt his draft stock substantially. Very messed up.

Need this dude to stop getting in foul trouble so he can get in a rhythm off the bench. We need his length and athleticism for the celtics /bucks .Right now it looks like hes in danger of getting surpassed by House whose a dope. It's almost like the refs have it out for him now instead of Reed.

Can someone explain why Jalen McDaniels fell to zero PT? He wasn't setting the world on fire, but it's not like anyone else on the bench is, either. None of the other wings have his length, and he seems to bring better rebounding and comparable 3pt shooting.

I thought McDaniels was a perfect play against Boston with his length and athleticism. In fact, two of his best games as a pro were against both Milwaukee and Boston. He made some quick mistakes when he did play earlier in the series and then got cooked a couple of times by Brown and Tatum. A couple of stupid fouls and a not making any plays on offense has been his problem. Boston defends so well when they want to and a player like McDaniels isn't going to offer much on offense against them. Still, I think he should be worth a dart throw if Brown or Tatum get hot in game 7. Same with House.
In fact Niang, House, and McDaniels are all basically dart throws at this point. It's a juggling act I wouldn't want to have as a head coach of a team. Niang is a big time shot maker and he's fearless in taking them, but when he misses, it's costs us unless he's somehow making plays on defense. House is a friggin Tasmanian Devil. Sometimes he can come in and wreck the game for the opposing team. He's either hit or miss. Either a big momentum shift or he's going to cost us.
McDaniels is still relatively new to what's going on. I think the team is going to want him back despite him not getting minutes in this series. We'll see...I hope they bring him back. He needs a full season with this roster and he also needs to really lock into the gym in the offseason and go to work on his three. If he can improve as a spot up shooter, he's a plug and play 3&D wing. He's 25? I think...So he's still developing and definitely has the time to improve.
