A glaring issue is the scheme where the opponent run a 1-5 2 man game, force Biid to step outside then drop it to the big around the rim or they would throw lobs to athletic 4s backdoor cutting where Tucker or Tobi are too short to challenge.

Our scheme this game is to have Tucker or Tobi help to the paint and let Biid as the last line of defense. If you check that clip where Biid blocked that shot by morant in crunch time, Tucker (his man is in the paint) rotated to stop the morant drive that made it easy for Embiid to block the shot

It looks like something happened on practice yesterday, Reggie made a comment during the game and Tobias confirmed it on his press after the game.

Maxey was great getting us back into the game. But if Harden and Embiid can both score in crunch time, we might be better off with Melton who can grab boards, hustle and decent c&s. But i think tonight Melton was not making those shots so he was benched in crunch time.

But this is a good game for Maxey to get more reps in crunch time. Was hoping he got into some spicy action (grizz attacking his defense or he’s in a situation that he needs to score) so he’ll be more used with the pressure

Just finished watching. McDaniels on the last possession. That was lol worthy. Dying on the screen for their best shooter, an out of control contest leaving his momentum to take him to half court so the rebound comes right back out to his guy for a walk up 3. All around awful. At least he did secure the rebound at the end of it all.

Just rewatched that, got a different read of it but the conlcusion is just as bad. He definitely didn't 'die' on the screen imo, it was a moving screen by JJJ (though not gonna get called at that pt in the game) that McDaniles wouldn't have had any way to turn the corner on, and he got right back into the play. The contest looked pretty good too, covers a lot of ground and gets into the player's space but also avoids anything close to fouling.

The problem is that he then keeps wandering off to half court after the contest. Wtf? He takes himself literally 20-25 feet away from his guy on the biggest defensive possession of the game. No boxout, which is bad, but also just completely removes himself from any rebound opportunity. Plus even if Bane didn't get the board he would've been wide open for a kick-out, and if we got the board MEM would've fouled us right away anyway (if McDaniels was trying to leak-out that's dumb since we certainly wouldn't have risked a half court pass--that would only lead to us giving them another chance to tie it with a 3). And then after Bane's second miss he doesn't box out him at all despite him being the only MEM player crashing--which leads directly to Bane tipping the rebound to JJJ--and even when he gets the board Bane is standing a foot away still not boxed out. Got lucky the shot caromed a little further away from the cup.

Wait what? What did Tobias say?

Between the players?

or between the players and Doc?

NVM, found it...

Interesting. I'm guess Doc's feeling the heat lol. He knows if they **** up this time he's toast.

Great gritty win.
Worst Embiid game in a while? 27/19/6/6 LOL
Also Brooks sucks.

Tobias was clutch on both ends of the floor in the last 2'30'' minuts.
This one was almost a playoff game so there's hope for the future

Worst offensive games, and one of the best defensive games of his career.

Can't believe we pulled this one off. Never looked like we could win it. Joel obviously struggling with short jumpers and FTs, not sure if he is under the weather or something.. But Harden, Tobias and Maxey came up big when needed.
Can't stand Brooks, he's a little b***. :)

All these years we would just collapse whenever Biid plays this type of games.

Not this time.

Literally begging the team to come ready to play against Boston on Saturday. I’m glad we were able to flip the switch here but I can’t take another Boston massacre on national TV.

This is the best Sixers team we've had in a while. We're truly a contender. Great on both ends of the court. Two hall of famers still playing at a star level. This is our year to truly compete for a title.

These 2 minutes are a great example why you can be an agile player and motivated on defense, but still terrible due to lacking awareness.

On the first play he showed his lateral quickness to keep Bane in front of him. A little push off gave him space, which forced Embiid to step up and contest the shot. Instead of boxing out Jaren Jackson, he did nothing which resulted in an easy offensive rebound.

The play after that it was so obvious during that Spain P&R that Embiid couldn't defend the P&R because of that back screen. However instead of rotating to Morant, Maxey let it play out and got bailed out by Embiid with that monster block.

He has to do better in order to earn minutes at the end of the game in the PO.

It's crazy how great we are at navigating crunchtime in these wins. Years of failing in crunchtime really was just us accumulating experience points.
