The Bones ship has sailed and I don't care for Westbrook either because of the bad shots he takes (clanks). At the same time we do have a hole at point guard/bench so Westbrook would fit as long as he is passing the ball. The question is whether Utah will buy him out?

Think a better question is whether Reggie Jackson will choose the Nuggets over the Suns ?

I would easily take Westbrook over Jackson. Despite him always seeming to tear us up Jackson has never been a shooter and really isn't great at running an offense. While a lot hate him, I would prefer to have someone with Westbrook's fire if we can get him.

With Ish and Brown off the bench I don't see backup pg as such a huge need.

Anybody hear anything recent on Gillespie?

Well, Westbrook is even a worse shooter and I do question a lot of character concerns should he join this team, that alone scares me.

Haven't heard a lot about Gillespie, but his time frame appearas to be in March. with him being a rookie, next year seems to be at best IMO.

Reggie Jackson coming home (he was raised in Colorado)

I think it is a good acquisition. Buy out players are more smoke than reality (there is a reason why they have been bought out) but Jackson covers bench ballhandling role which was an obvious need. He was the best candidate for that role, and has some PO experience.

I also think be could stay Next season in a minimum contract.

Was Jackson parte of Bones trade with gentlemen agreement to send It to Charlotte to match salaries? We will never know.

Bones x Jackson (Minimum contract) + 2 SRP is a decent deal considering Bones situation

Almost every national media outlet is reporting Reggie Jackson is headed to Denver. Seems like a lock at this point.

This is a guy who has a lot of starter experience and has averaged over 17 points a game during the playoffs against Phoenix in 2021. He is 32 now and fits with the veterans who the Nuggets have assembled for their bench.

Bones may have higher upside in the future but adding a veteran point guard still in his prime with playoff experience, looks like a smart move. That and adding a backup center looks like Denver has reduced its weaknesses and is now ready for the playoffs.

So it seems the Nuggets could not have traded for Jackson using Bones because of salary cap issues. Could the Nuggets and Clippers have done a backdoor deal to get around that limitation in this way? If that's the case, my hat is off to Calvin Booth.
Canned in Denver.

It was a way to describe Bones trade. The complete four teams trade:

Los Angeles (LAL) traded Thomas Bryant to Denver (DEN)
Denver (DEN) traded Nah'Shon Hyland to Los Angeles (LAC);
Denver (DEN) traded Davon Reed to Los Angeles (LAL);
Denver (DEN) traded 2024 2nd round pick to Orlando (ORL);
Los Angeles (LAC) traded 2024 2nd round pick and 2025 2nd round pick to Los Angeles (LAL);
Los Angeles (LAL) traded Patrick Beverley and cash to Orlando (ORL);
Orlando (ORL) traded Mohamed Bamba to Los Angeles (LAL)

If Westbrook is signing with the Clippers as reported then it appears that Bones is nailed to the bench for a while.

I just thought you guys might be interested in this.

Rumors here are that this was likely a Naz/Bones swap that both front offices liked, but it got nixed by your owner.

Certainly wouldn't come as a surprise, to many here. TC's exit to MINN was clearly a surprise to KSE and not received well as we had to scramble to replace him. Booth has done a good job so far unlike TC in MINN but there were definitely hard feelings. And there really isn't a huge difference between Bryant and Reid, although I think Reid is a bit better on the defensive side.

It's like the ex-girlfriend asking to watch your dogs for a while, do you feel like that's a good thing or do you just avoid it all together ??? And you really need to get over it, it's done.

I did a little more checking, and there is some evidence that Taurean Prince would have been involved with the deal. Both he and Naz seem like they would be more useful for your playoff run.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of Bones in Minnesota, but teams have rarely benefited when owners have superseded their front office. When guys like Dolan and Cuban interfere, things haven’t worked out, and I feel it’s unprofessional and damages the working environment for your front office when they can have their legs cut out from under them. Yeah, it’s the owner’s team, but I feel like a good owner hires good people, spends money, and then stands back and lets the professionals do their jobs.

Wow, Bones has such a short-sighted perspective, typical of this generation's youth. Says he felt kicked to the curb, but HE was the one who walked out on his team, seems he felt entitled yet took no responsibility for poor shot selection, over-dribbling or walking out on his team. "I want all the blame away from me" is what I get outta his trade perspective.

Probably no Reggie Jackson in that scenario though

The crazy thing is that if they had gone through with the proposed Bones to Minnesota deal you could've had the following:

1) Bird rights. Thomas Bryant has non-bird rights so if he performs very well here he's taking the best offer he can get and Denver wouldn't be able to do anything about it unless Kamagate progresses further and the Nuggets think he's ready. While Reid and Bryant seem to be a wash the one benefit with Naz is that you have full bird rights with him which is very important and he may be willing to take a lesser deal for more guaranteed money not to mention throw in a P/O and you'd be able to lock him up.

2) Prince's salary. The good thing with him is that he has an extra year and you'd be able to soak up his salary via the Monte Morris TPE. He's actually a pretty solid 3/4 who's been shooting the ball very well even though his health hasn't been the greatest. He'd be a good boost for Denver's bench.

As far as Reggie Jackson though it'd suck but they'd probably trade Smith/DJ to make room if it came down to that scenario.

Thanks for the link. I mean who knows where is the truth. Maybe noone really told him he should try a little on defense and pass the ball so he had no idea... :lol:

The way Kamagate has been playing (averaging a double-double with nearly 2bl), I think no way he doesn't come, at least as a two-way. Unless Bryant plays out of his mind in the remaining 20 games or in the playoffs, don't think he will have much better offers (learning from the best at his position has to have some appeal), but who knows.
