Re: Game 58: Grizzlies @ 76ers (2/23)
THAT is how this team needs to play if it wants to make noise in the playoffs beyond the second round for a change.
Last night it got major contributions offensively AND defensively from the player nucleus -- Embiid, Harden, Maxey, and Harris.
They faced a high-quality team clearly highly driven to win that was in control of virtually the entire game, and in the clutch they simply responded and played with the offense and defense necessary to overcome that team's will. A 10 to 1 run to end the game.
That was a team with championship character. That needs to become their identity -- their norm, what they expect from themselves night in night out.

Harden diving for a steal/loose ball with the outlet Embiid running in transition for the W... Just like we all had drawn up

Watching Tyrese play defense I do get the sinking feeling that our golden boy might be a dumb dumb.

Any details?
I didn't catch the Reggie comment but it seems poor effort on training and Doc scolding them and bringing out Garnett as an example.

Maxey was great getting us back into the game. But if Harden and Embiid can both score in crunch time, we might be better off with Melton who can grab boards, hustle and decent c&s. But i think tonight Melton was not making those shots so he was benched in crunch time.
But this is a good game for Maxey to get more reps in crunch time. Was hoping he got into some spicy action (grizz attacking his defense or he’s in a situation that he needs to score) so he’ll be more used with the pressure
You do know on the last 2 3 point attempts that Bane took, Mattise Thybulle would have fouled him right?
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

If they can bring that kind of late game moxey and clutch performance into the playoffs, dare we even think the unthinkable? They had no business winning that game against a really good team, and yet pulled it off - a sign of a legit championship contender.
No one here has been a harsher Tobias critic than me, but he seems to have finally found his niche on this team and is becoming a truly clutch performer. I still wish he would just take that corner 3 anytime it is there.
The one question that remains, and will until all is said and done, is how Glenn handles tough playoff situations.

Haliburton is a positive defender, don't see how it is surprising to see him playing good defense.

This play stood out while I was watching, nice analysis by Rich as to why it was so effective.
Who we giving credit to on that one? Joerger? Cassell?

Game 6 vs Toronto had the entire world crashing on him blowing 3-1 leads, he refutes it publicly and is expected to lose. They go into Canada and blow them out. Loses Embiid vs Washington and closes out without him. Harden and Embiid need to show up.
Tobi with the quick trigger has been a revelation in key moments this year. That also needs to continue

I think it was a good breakdown of some of the wrinkles out of the 4 out 1 in and pick and rolls. That bench offense with McDaniels rolling hard for a lob was good too.

Making some adjustments with Maxey slicing toward the rack when James and Joel are in the pick and roll. Liked it.

If NBA wants it's ratings back up, they'll put us in the finals. Do you see the reactions whenever we win? I don't think that there is a bigger villain in the NBA than us

We spent so many years trying to get the ball to Embiid in the low post during crunchtime (where we turn it over) or running pointless actions beyond the 3-pt line (where Embiid is underutilized). Setting him up at the nail is a relatively easy pass to make, and it allows him to be close enough to be dangerous. It helps that Embiid is now a better playmaker.

Re: Game 58: Grizzlies @ 76ers (2/23)
Tobias made a couple shots but I thought he played a bad game. Several dribble forays with no point, especially after Harden already compromised the defense.
The crazy corner 3 Harden sank after Tobias passed up the same corner 3 to take a couple dribbles along the baseline into the teeth of the defense and meekly passed the ball back to Harden was garbage. He did that several other times too.
If Harden doesn't bail him out (on that particular play and overall) the narrative is rightly Tobias' crap game.

Brooks is like if Pat Bev fast forwarded through the part of his career where he was actually good.

He's a dick and easy to hate... But he'd be perfect on this team in place of PJ.
