So, four dumbass irrelevant “fans” calling into a show with 4 viewers in Cleveland represent the fan base consensus opinion? Lol

No. Mitchell and Garland can both make tough shots and they've shown they will defer to each other; but with the Cavs lousy floor spacing, there will most certainly be times where that's exactly what they need to do.

And like the Nuggets game, there will unfortunately be nights neither of them come through.

Also it's never hard to find fans whining about a player who came up short in a loss.

It seems like you found one of the only retweets that wasn't outright calling those callers morons.

Mitchel as your best player will never win a championship.

Cavs are 4th in the East and ahead of schedule and Mitchell has looked like a MVP candidate most of the year.

I like what the Jazz are doing, but they have a long way to go before they are considered anything close to contenders, let's not get it twisted.

it's a good thing he started out fast. sitting at about 46% FGs and 34% from three in the last two months. that's fine, but that kind of efficiency won't get the cavs anywhere meaningful.

Cavs are gonna have to wait until Mobley develops into their best player. Everything should fall into place then.

A team led by Mitchell is never going to go far but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be a great number 2.

The Cavs are basically where they were last year. The Jazz traded blew things up trading a lot more than Mitchell (Bogey and Gobert initially, but then another talent purge at the deadline) for youth and a ton of picks.

The biggest concern for the Cavs is getting a good two-way player at the 3, as the hodge podge they have is crap. They are pretty well suited to handle a very poor defensive backcourt with their front court, but we'll see in the playoffs. I think the Cavs would have been better served by keeping Lauri and playing him in an expanded role at the 3 and focus on getting a 2 that can score and defend with a lower usage rate they didn't have to give so much up for. Ochai may turn into that.

I want to see Mobley take over this team, and the massive usage rate between Mitchell and Garland definitely doea not help this. Mitchell is very good, but I don't love the fit with the Cavs.

The groin injury MItchell dealt with during that span certainly did not help things.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

He's been playing with a groin injury, Garland has been playing with a thumb strain.

Injuries are a big risk for shooters and I'd even admit it was a weakness if Mitchell and Garland weren't also good at driving, passing, and shooting inside the 3pt line too. So the Cavs need to bring in some 3&D shooters. Everyone knows that.

The biggest mistake would be to assume all things are static and can't/won't change, but the Jazz were getting old, while the Cavs are young.

The Cavs were 36-26 at this point last year (.vs. 38-24) and would go 8-12 the rest of the season thanks to a ton of injuries; while the current team dealt with some early season injuries and has been getting healthier.

We'll see how it plays out?

But they sure seem to be teams heading in very different directions to me.

Still the #1 defensive team and only behind Boston in Net Rating (0.5 behind the Celtics, but 1.1 ahead of the Nuggets).

Cavs should trade Garland..but they prob never will. Hes homegrown talent and the fans will choose him over Spida if it came down to it

Jazz fans thought Gobert was better than Mitchell, they aren't exactly a beacon of intelligence on the matter.

Cavs fans, on the other hand, seem more than happy with Mitchell.

Fans don't decide these things ...

But I don't see why the Cavs would trade either one of them, and until they get some more shooting in the lineup the math is pretty simple.

The Cavs very nearly beat the best team in the West inspite of shooting 4 for 22 on 3pters outside of Evan Mobley. They didn't need Okoro, LeVert, Osman, or Stevens to make their shots to win the game ... Garland and Mitchell just needed to shoot better than 3 for 13.

Something they usually do.

So, the simple math?

Everyone can't go cold, and at least one of Garland and Mitchell need to shoot well.
