Westbrook basically decided he wasn’t going to play D, and Powell decided he needed to help Kawhi near the paint instead of guarding for the game tying 3.

Tbf that’s a fairly normal play when a guy is driving by his opponent and you’re in a zone he wasn’t that out of position there between being help defense at the ring or switching out to the 3 point line.

I know what you mean though, bad awareness specifically up 3 just let him take the layup. I reckon it was more not understanding the score situation which happens quite often with players. Needed to be glued to Monk on the 3 line given the score rather than playing a usual defensive play.
